Aside from having the largest endowment of any public university by a wide margin Texas has had the benefit of wonderful wealthy donors. There are generally considered to be eight elite state flagships plus one elite public tech, and Texas is one of the elite flagships. It is one of two flagships in which all departments are ranked in the top thirty in America, And Forbes just called out Texas as one of 20 institutions, public or private, that are properly preparing graduating talent for the changing job market (The New Ivies, April 8). The resulting flip side is how competitive the school has become since my day. While the overall admit rate is about 27%, Cockrell is at 11%, McCombs is at 9%, and the architecture and honors programs are comparably squeezed. I have twin granddaughters who are both in the top 5% of their junior classes in HS - one is number 1 - who legitimately fear they will be accepted into UT but not into business and engineering, respectively. And God forbid one should fall down to top 6% and be looking down the road to The College That Got One Per Cent Smarter when Texas changed auto admits from the top 6% to the top 5% last year.

His measurables would have to be pretty far off for Muschamp to sign off on that one. -

Just curious.... do we really think the kid was confused (I ask as he has coach name-specifically Orphey- in the x/tweet) or was this a play to get more attention/ help his NIL value? @Hank South -

McDonald's Corp should give him a franchise of his own in Austin for NIL compensation... and he could hire Andy L to advise him on franchise management in anticipation of the end of his playing days in the future. Cool tie-in with the McDonald name. Hook 'Em! Ronald! -
Lol.read the OP.

If Texas is supposed to be in the top 5-10 of NIL and WBB programs, there better not be any rebuilds at all and just reloads. That's terrible ROI if you're reloading with the money allegedly being tossed around. -
That should help with taxes

A rebuilding year for Madison Booker’s senior year is criminal. If this was football, everyone would be crying if Sark was depending on a freshmen class for Arch’s last year. I love Texas. I love Vic. And I love Booker. If this is truly a “rebuild” year, she should have left and I am 100% serious. -

Is Olivya Edwards basically a Louisville lean because she’s an Adidas signee, or does that not really matter anymore in today’s NIL era? I believe the Adidas angle is overblown and this is going to come down to fit, role, and NIL, not shoe brand. If she wants high usage + to be “the piece” instead of “a piece,” Texas is the play. This is going to come down to whether she wants optimization (SC), usage (Texas), or brand/NIL (Louisville). South Carolina is still the cleanest system fit; Staley has built her entire program around players like Edwards. Texas might actually be the best role fit though if she wants to be a focal point early instead of fighting for touches. Louisville probably brings the strongest NIL/Adidas alignment, but it’s the weakest pure basketball fit of the three. -

It turns out that every situation is different. I do know that Aaliyah Crump had forged a strong relationship with Duke prior to coming here. Coaches don't stop recruiting. Justice Carlton was homesick. And Jordan Lee's parents want a bigger bag! That's it. End of story. -

It could be a rebuilding year with the infusion of youth. I feel like the recruits coming in are all ballers with a lot of dog in them. Obviously, experience does matter. I would like another center with some games under her belt and maybe a power forward. Although, it appears like guard play wins the games. Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Ol'Miss, LSU, and Kentucky are going to be nightmares in the SEC.
