Will Texas Spend Big in the Portal?
jkates replied to TexasFanatic's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Spending big isn't necessarily the answer. Hitting on the players you spend on is the answer. Texas must hit on transfers - as it did with Mosley or Kanu - without a high whiff rate - like Niblack. -
Scratch the 85 scholarships limit
SchoolColors replied to THookem's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Should stick with 85 even if expanded to 105 due to NIL allotment, unless the player is okay with just the scholarship and no NIL. There is already so much dead NIL on our roster that should be purged. -
This. More scholarships at D1 means more spots at D2 and D3 for kids that may not have received those opportunities. More college-trained athletes for various sports (and opportunities for some kids to get out of bad life situations). My opinion from the rabbit hole is this is good for football growth internationally. This applies to all collegiate/olympic sports, but football is barely scratching the surface overseas and this increases player supply for various leagues.

Will Texas Spend Big in the Portal?
Nuufaola replied to TexasFanatic's topic in On Texas Football Forum
All the teams have the same amount to spend via revenue share. We also have the best reach, so our NIL deals (which are outside the salary cap) should be the best. We do not (and will not) have a mechanism to pay cash under the table. Texas is only limited by the law (or SEC/NCAA rules). We can come up with any amount of money we need. Some of the posts above confuse the current roster (i.e., there was no cap before this summer) and next years roster. -
I could see Kelly at Penn State or UF as a very highly paid OC

Unfortunately (?), CFB is a video game now in terms of managing a team and buying a roster. -

We now have two weeks remaining and not a whole lot has changed for this week. Based on the Lane Kiffin news of an announcement coming after the Egg Bowl, I now expect Ole Miss to win. Here is my Vol. 2 Prediction of the Playoff field. Volume 2 -------- 1. Ohio State (B1G Champ) 2. Georgia (SEC Champ) 3. Indiana (B1G Runner-up) 4. Texas Tech (Big 12 Champ) 5. Oregon 6. Texas A&M 7. Notre Dame 8. Alabama (SEC Runner-up) 9. Ole Miss 10. BYU (Big 12 Runner-up) 11. SMU (ACC Champ) 12. North Texas (American Champ) -------- Volume 1 -------- 1. Ohio State (B1G Champ) 2. Georgia (SEC Champ) 3. Indiana (BIG Runner-up) 4. Texas Tech (Big 12 Champ) 5. Oregon 6. Texas A&M 7. Notre Dame 8. Oklahoma 9. Alabama (SEC Runner-up) 10. BYU (Big 12 Runner-up) 11. Georgia Tech (ACC Champ) 12. North Texas (American Champ)

Day took back over playcalling in the playoffs last year. -

I saw a Oh St team that was ready to fire Day after losing to Michigan. They caught fire in the playoffs and won. Now Kelly is gone and they’re still rolling. Hard to say how much was Day giving up play calling vs how much did he wrest back after the regular season last year. -
It’s Louisiana they invented dealing in shady politics and dealings lol. They’re probably thinking they have 27 million more dollars than the Aggies did and look at them now! They’re investing money in the swamp and hoping it turns into waterfront luxury. They were ready and willing to spend with us on Herman too. Let them learn the hard truth with Lame Coffin.

NC State tonight will give a shot at redemption - better team than ASU -
With the A&M game looming... I thought this would be an appropriate time to get some good ol wishes in. I've been scouring social media of a few major players on schools with major coaching changes... and I'm seeing some Longhorns of note in the comments section. I'm also seeing a lot of those particular players on those same Longhorns posts. I also see the players teammates indicating that they seem to be a bit nervous.. like its possible they may leave! Drop who you want in the portal here. I got a major name... but I'm waiting to see who's on the same page. 🤘🏿🔥🔥🔥

I think we were only averaging 10 TOs per game coming out to Maui. Can we make a mid season trade for Medina? -
than any game except a national title game. The arrogance of these Aggies after skating by an overrated Notre Dame team and the bottom half of the SEC is maddening. Need to be put in their place.

Good to see some solid outside shooting even if it is against Chaminade. I think Declan Duru will be a player for us. He seems ultra athletic and has a nice stroke.
