  1. Past hour
  2. First and foremost Blake, thank you for all that you do! Really enjoyed the first episode of your HS football series. Super great and unique idea and looking forward to future episodes! To comment on the political things: Even though no politics were overtly discussed, it can easily feel to some like having Abbott on just to talk about football at this time can feel like you are asking your viewers who are against his recent actions to basically ignore those and act like everything is normal. Many of those actions have been very serious and life impacting for many- like gerrymandering the state to minimize the chances of people’s votes to make a difference in their life, supporting ICE when they are dramatically rounding up even minors with cancer to deport, etc. Those are really hard things to ignore. This is not just about increasing/decreasing taxes, yes marijuana/no marijuana, etc, or even abortion. Those are easier to set aside. The way I view it is that just remaining completely positive toward a guest like that and say things like “thank you governor!” without bringing up the issue almost amounts to saying “I am ok with your actions”. You may say this is not the forum to speak out against the governor- however, I actually view it as a very uniquely powerful place to do just that. Y’all had the governor of Texas live to where he could potentially see people’s comments in real time. I know never in my life have I personally had that opportunity. Also something to consider: I am not 100% on the law, but I am pretty sure that there is something on the books that if you give a political figure like Abbott a certain amount of time on your media platform, you may be obligated to give his political opponent(s) the same amount of time on your platform if they ask for it. Not sure if that applies to y’all’s YT platform, but if y’all don’t really want to get into politics, I would be careful about it if I was y’all. Especially now that y’all are rapidly growing in size and becoming more visible. This might increasingly become an issue the larger y’all get. Even if you don’t think politics is actually happening, seeing Greg Abbott on OTF chatting and laughing and talking about football could influence undecided voters to vote for him- “Oh this guy is down to Earth and a Longhorn football fan- I’m gonna vote for him”. Just the exposure alone is valuable to a politician.
  3. Anybody heard if they are going to keep non-season ticket holders out of the garage at Disch-Falk again?
  4. Makes me sick. One of the worst things they have done.
  5. I’d be curious to see any analysis that proves or even slightly substantiates that depth wins over the starters. For example, the OSU had 10 starters on defense that logged 65% or more of their defensive snaps. They undoubtedly had some missed time for injuries and most definitely some garbage time snaps. Offensively, they have 7 guys. That doesn’t includes Simmons and McLaughlin, lost to season ending injuries, or their replacements. Now, you have the TE and two highly drafted RBs who were not included. I would wager that non-garbage time plays has little usage of backups. Texas is a bit different and this year may prove differently. Injuries are the largest factor in the depth chart coming into play, and beyond one or two guys going out it is very difficult to overcome multiple injuries. Ohio State had two once the season started but were buoyed by tons of game experience.
  6. I’m not answering for Bobby, but I will say that Abbott attended the University of Texas. He also has a major pulse on what’s going on with the University (such as the Eltife nugget, which he had a direct hand in). There was literally ZERO political talk. None. Nothing even close to it. Personally I don’t care if any of you are for or against his politics, because that’s not what we discuss here. We talk UT and that’s it. It’s pretty easy to separate the two and that is exactly what happened today. Unfortunately I couldn’t even listen to what he was saying live because I had to police the chat from the moment he came on. That’s insane to me. Outside of Abbott, I’m not aware of any other politician who has been on any OTF show. Maybe I’m wrong… but even if they were I’d feel confident saying that no politics were discussed. Nor will they ever be discussed on OTF. Today was Texas talk only.
  7. Today
  8. I’ve heard/read every once in a while that starters on the top teams aren’t much better than the mid-pack or top 2/3rds teams. It’s the fact their backups and 3rd string are much much better that allows them to really get better and pull away usually this is true here. Our depth should be much better than their depth allowing us to stay fresh and help
  9. @Bobby Burton love what you’ve built here, but it can’t remain apolitical if you keep inviting politicians on your programs.
  10. I think a lot of this game hinges on whether we can get a north south run game with Baxter. We didn’t have that in the cotton bowl and it hurt us. Hope Baxter still has the one cut and go ability. Moving the ball 4 to 5 yards on first down makes this offense deadly. Ohio state is thinking of the same thing with Peoples.
  11. August 39 is always my favorite day of the year
  12. At some point Sark will need to have a serious conversation with him about his future. There’s too much safety talent in the pipeline putting in the effort year-round for Jonah to assume he can take the winter and spring off for baseball. Doesn’t matter how talented he is—he needs to dedicate himself to his craft if he wants to make the kind of impact on this team that we all know he can.
  13. He knows there are 11 more days of August left after he wins this game. He should be!
  14. Sark looks/sounds confident
  15. Sark needs to remain patient, rely on everything he has learned in the losses from the last few years, while staying aggressive and taking the deep shots. I really enjoyed the show earlier in the week where Rod broke down the script plays from the two Bama games and the Michigan game the last three years. I am excited to see how the offense performs when the full Sark playbook can be unleashed. Hopefully this game is similar to when Sark faced OSU in 2020.
