Sonny_V
With Fl St, etc. Trying to Escape the ACC and the astronomical amount of $$ being discussed to leave, does anyone have a definitive number that UT had to cut a check for? I understand UT was in the last year of GOR and ACC teams still have a decade and half to go on theirs. Was it deducted from revenue generated (Playoffs, Moving Games, etc.) Any Idea what the final number was?
EwersNotWorthy
Well aggie fans sure think that ESPN picked up the tab for Texas.
Bobby Burton
I don't think Texas officially cut a check. They ended up negotiating out of it by foregoing some revenue and rearranging their schedule to accommodate TV partners. 1
Glass Joe
Among the mechanisms of payment were withheld revenue by the B12 for 2024, forced to change schedule to give Fox the Michigan and Ohio State games as home games (broadcast by Fox, not ESPN), and reduced payouts of tournament revenues from hoops tournament. The only cash payment was to Fox for the other OOC games for 2024 that would’ve been on Fox broadcast. The economic value of the foregone revenues, shifting UM and OSU games to Fox early, and various other game payouts is ballpark $50m for each of Texas and OU. For the 8 legacy B12 programs It effectively reimburses them for the monies they shared with the 4 new schools (UH, UCF, BYU, Cincy) for the two seasons of 2023 & 2024.
