Hold the Mayo: Week 3 Results

83 OTF fans filled out a board for week 3. Nine finished above .500. Here's how it went.

@Budtexas wins it at 8-2 and Holds the Mayo going into Week 4. Nobody else finished within a game of them, and their board was one of a kind. No other board of the 83 had the same eleven picks. What they did that almost nobody else did was take six underdogs.

The favorites got wrecked. Take the favorite in every game and you finish 2-8. Four boards did exactly that. Take the underdog in every game and you finish 8-2.

The boards agreed with each other a lot. 83 boards produced 44 different slates. The most popular one, turned in by 15 people, went 4-6. Take the most popular pick in all eleven games and you also go 4-6.

Where the boards were surest, the boards were most wrong:

• 96% took Tennessee to win by more than 34.5. They won by 33.
• 96% took Texas to win by more than 29.5. They won by 24.
• 92% took Oklahoma to win by more than 23.5. They won by 8.
• 84% took Missouri to win by more than 27.5. They won by 10.

Three people took UTSA to stay within 29.5, and all three were right: @NCHorn, @Longhornfrenzy, and @TravelingHorn. Two of them finished 7-3, tied for second.

Nobody could win Vanderbilt. They were favored by 4 and won by exactly 4. That game pushed for all 83 boards, no win and no loss, which is why the records read out of ten.
