Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 1 hour ago Moderators Posted 1 hour ago Texas was in 10 personnel for 8 plays that accounted 83 yards on Saturday vs. Oklahoma. Good for 10.38 yards per play.  The eight snaps: 10-yard pass to Emmett Mosley V 15-yard pass to Cam Coleman 34-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Wingo  -- halftime -- Arch Manning pick-six 9-yard pass to Emmett Mosley V 0-yard run by Hollywood Smothers 15-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Bishop Jr. pass thrown away The pick-six is the clear blemish. But completions on 6/7 other attempts for 83 yards is a good day given how much the Texas offense struggled throughout the game. *** Texas is averaging 9.93 yards per play in 10 personnel in the two SEC games where 10 personnel has been utilized. *** The personnel grouping is responsible for the following explosives in the two games: 34-yard pass 29-yard pass 18-yard pass 15-yard touchdown pass 15-yard pass 14-yard pass  2 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 1 hour ago Author Moderators Posted 1 hour ago The spacing from 10 personnel here creates an easy walk-in touchdown. Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 1 hour ago Author Moderators Posted 1 hour ago The key with 10 personnel is protection. Good protection in this unit typically results in a good play. Quote
Nikolas24 Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago They have to find away to run the ball out of 10 personnel or every defense will know what’s coming. Quote
Alex Butler Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago That pick 6 was doubly frustrating because Coleman was open but Arch sailed the throw 😕 3 Quote

But that requires the OL to win a lot of 1v1 battles. We will see a lot of teams blitz in 10P imo, especially given the somewhat dismissal of hot/check routes when defenses show pressure in pre-snap. 1 Quote

That was my next thought too. Teams blitzing because we have no hot routes. Quote
NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago It is infuriating when we have a coach making 10 million reasons a year to figure this out himself, But somehow can’t. Quote
Txhorn1213 Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago I truly don’t know what is worse, that every person can see that this team is not only built to work mostly out of 10p or that every time we do run it, it produces our biggest plays and our HC refuses to run it until we have to (hence the 4th quarter drive to bishop). Even as a fan at the game, every time they set up in spread, just as an eye test look so much better for a run play. I’m starting to let my mind run and think he’s trying to force a pro style offense to get NFL looks because no way someone can be this ignorant Quote

Would like to use Arch in that as a runner too. Definitely adds difficulty if they have to spy him which devotes one less defender. I’m very frustrated why we’re not attacking the middle if the field and linebackers more this year especially with these blitzes?! Quote

So much quicker and easier to diagnose pre snap. Find the leverage. Get the ball to the WR and let him make a play. Also 10 personnel will lighten up the boxes which can make arch’s legs even more lethal. Sark needs to abandon his philosophy of not wanting the QB to run as well and intentionally tell arch to run it whenever he wants to. You can see arch gets paralyzed in the pocket at times when he wants to run but intentionally tries not to in order to appease Sark. Hence the 3 beyond the line of scrimmage passes this season. The answer is pretty glaring at this point: 10 and 11 personnel and simple spread concepts. 10P also gets bishop on the field who might be our most dynamic player on the roster.  Does sark have the humility to change the identity of his beloved pro style scheme? We’ll see. Edited 41 minutes ago by SpurHorn 1 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 40 minutes ago Author Moderators Posted 40 minutes ago By the way, it's unsustainable to run every single play out of 10 personnel, there has to be variations and different personnel packages. But that doesn't mean there can't be more of it. Â Especially considered 12 personnel produced 50 yards on 17 snaps for a 2.94 average. Only one of those 17 snaps in 12P gained 7 or more yards. It went for 15 to Emmett Mosley V on the pass he juggled on the sidelines. 1 Quote
