This might be straight conjecture. But as stated the PPG has decreased every year, and it seems like the pre snap motion has decreased with it.  No WR motion like used with Worthy. With the RPOs or the motion reverse motion.

Not sure if it correlates with an increase in talent believing sark can just win Mano y Mano.  Or him believing it doesn’t work in the SEC anymore (factually wrong).  His 2022 tape vs Alabama was a masterclass in pre snap movement and shifting. The reason he got the job at Texas was what he did w Alabama in 2019/20 with Jeudy, Waddle, Devonta Smith etc

I don't have the data from the UTSA game yet, but the % of motion at the snap has been relatively the same from  the first nine games of the 2025 season. (I don't have the full season charted.)

Motion at the snap:

  • 2025 – 58.99%
  • 2026 – 56.50%

Yards per play with/without motion:

  • 2025 with motion – 6.04 yards
  • 2025 without motion – 5.34 yards
  • ...
  • 2026 with motion – 4.85 yards
  • 2026 without motion – 5.91 yards

Again, it's an imperfect picture, but it's the best data I have on the subject.

Do you have the data for 21-24?

It’s not just motion though. It’s what all this complexity does to our quarterback who clearly has processing issues. Sark needs to recognize his QB isn’t able to play the system he wants and make it all much simpler
