A rundown of who saw time on the field for the Texas Longhorns in the win over Kentucky on Saturday.

***

Offensive Snap Count

Out of 81 possible snaps.

  • 81 – Kelvin Banks, Hayden Conner, Jake Majors, Cam Williams, Gunnar Helm, Quinn Ewers
  • 65 – DJ Campbell
  • 59 – Tre Wisner
  • 54 – Matthew Golden
  • 42 – Isaiah Bond
  • 40 – Ryan Wingo
  • 39 – DeAndre Moore
  • 35 – Jaydon Blue
  • 24 – Silas Bolden
  • 23 – Juan Davis
  • 16 – Cole Hutson
  • 3 – Amari Niblack, Jerrick Gibson
  • 1 – Colin Page, Ryan Niblett

– I was a bit surprised seeing as many snaps for both DeAndre Moore and Isaiah Bond, felt like incredibly quiet days for both.

– 59–35 snap count for Wisner-Blue.

Blue had 18 touches on Saturday, meaning he touched the rock on more than half of his snaps.

Defensive Snap Count

Out of 57 possible snaps.

  • 57 – Jahdae Barron
  • 53 – Malik Muhammad
  • 52 – Anthony Hill Jr.
  • 44 – Michael Taaffe, Andrew Mukuba
  • 41 – Trey Moore
  • 38 – Barryn Sorrell
  • 37 – Jaylon Guilbeau
  • 34 – Colin Simmons, Alfred Collins
  • 32 – Vernon Broughton
  • 28 – Liona Lefau
  • 27 – Jermayne Lole
  • 26 – Jelani McDonald
  • 21 – Gavin Holmes
  • 19 – Ethan Burke
  • 16 – Bill Norton
  • 11 – Mo Blackwell Jr.
  • 4 – Sydir Mitchell
  • 3 – TyAnthony Smith, Alex January, David Gbenda

– What was interesting to me was the amount of snaps with just one true linebacker on the field. Texas rocked with Hill for just about every snap, but Lefau saw rough half the snaps in the game on defense and then there was Gbenda and Smith for some change.

– Second most snaps in a game for Colin Simmons this season.

– Continues to be a very impactful 26 snaps for Jelani McDonald. INT was the highlight.

Jelani making every snap count! Love to see how his development has gone!

I was having the conversation with a buddy Sunday morning – Derek Williams' injury is obviously very unfortunate and Williams himself is a great player. But there is something to say about the Next Man Up story with McDonald that is very encouraging for the remainder of the team. Jelani has been tremendous in his snaps since starting vs. Vandy.

Would have liked for bond to rest his ankle more and Moore to rest his foot more. We need both to be in their best shape possible next Saturday. Didn’t think I saw Kobe black in the game so this confirms. Wonder if his coverage issues the prior week affected playing time.

Kobe still found 2 special teams tackles.

Lole a candidate to return and improve draft pick next year?

Jermayne Lole and Cam Rising are competing to see who can play the most years of college ball. Both 2018 recruits

Lolol!! So do we think we could get Cam to transfer back here as a back up for Manning now that his kids are off to college 😜

Check out Sydir!! I know it’s not many but he was in on tackles at or behind LOS if I recall last week and recently! Hopefully, he’s gotten AC and VB’s message “stay the course, trust your coaches, and you can learn to dominate!” No matter what it’s really great to see the growth from a kid not willing to go into a game working his way back into good graces IN THE SAME SEASON after sitting 3 games! If that doesn’t prove to the young man we’re invested in his success and development at Texas nothing will!
