Today we reached a milestone. I posted this in the Alumni game baseball thread but wanted to put it here so everyone that’s been asking could see. November 5, 2024: Today, February 1, 2025: He took the field for the first time since the accident and played the entire game. He started at catcher and remained there the majority of the game, then finished out at shortstop. It’s absolutely insane to me that in less than three months we went from ICU and not knowing if he’d even make it (there for awhile it was looking grim) to now playing baseball and doing what he loves. Thank you all for your support, thoughts and prayers, and everything in between it means the world to my family and I. Krista and I both can’t thank you all enough. Now if anyone wants to help me tell my wife that he’s decided to play football again… that would really be appreciated. 😂 Excellent news. He received help from God, his parents, friends and family, physicians and nurses, and many others. He also has a strong will to live and compete. As a father I understand your concern and your joy. As a divorced man, I have zero advice on "how to tell my wife he's decided to play football again." Best wishes and Hook 'Em!

Just let me know if I need a hard hat or a kevlar vest. 😁 Haha I showed her the thread. She now knows. He’ll be fully cleared for football in exactly 7 days, but she has about 6 months to prepare herself. He played JV this past season and is expected to play both ways (WR/flex TE and safety) on varsity the next two years. Obviously what happens in baseball going forward could change that. He’s also running track he told us today. The 800 and the mile. He must be a glutton for punishment.
Moderators Blake Munroe Posted yesterday at 12:37 AM Author Moderators Share Posted yesterday at 12:37 AM And, again, thank you all for the continuous support. It means the world to all of us. We can’t thank you all enough. We’re in the process of sending out about 300ish thank you cards, but this is my big thank you card to the OTF board! I want to add that, somehow, despite not playing or lifting weights until the past couple of weeks… he’s throwing harder and faster than ever before. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Noticeably harder. To the point where I’m about done playing catch with him. It’s insane. I don’t even know how that’s possible given the circumstances!
