Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 4 hours ago Moderators Posted 4 hours ago This actually happened earlier this week, but just now saw it. FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive back Josh Thompson, the team announced Monday. Thompson briefly spent time in Atlanta last season, signing on during training camp. He landed on injured reserve within a month, though, due to an undisclosed injury and was released before the season began. The 26-year-old is a former undrafted free agent who joined the NFL in 2022. As a rookie, he appeared in six games with the Tennessee Titans, solely on special teams. He took 83 snaps. Thomspon has yet to appear in a game since. He was with the Houston Texans before the Falcons brought him to Atlanta the first time around. To make room for Thomspon on the 90-man roster, the Falcons released safety Benny Sapp III. https://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/josh-thompson-signed-benny-sapp-released-transaction-2025 4 Quote
tsip92 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago If my memory serves me correctly, Thompson was elite at downing Dickson’s punts deep in enemy territory. Not something you usually think of as an elite skill, but the difference between starting inside the 5 or at the 20 is immense. Hopefully he can catch on long term with the Falcons. Quote
