Who is your favorite Horn to wear No. 60? A ton of options today, but you have to start with….. Tommy Nobis Others include…. Brian Jones Britt Hager Robin Sendlein Jeff Leiding 2 Quote
Hookem1012 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago No need to list anyone other than Nobis and that’s no disrespect to any of the other guys. 2 Quote
.45s Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago NOBIS. Even my father, who was not a big college football fan, thought Nobis was fantastic. I remember him from the NFL and barely from his time at UT. Quote
Modern Day Warrior Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Brian Jones My all time favorite memory as a Longhorn fan 1990 I’m 11 years old I will never forget how incredibly nice he was. During a fan meet day, after getting his autograph, he took me and my cousin around the facilities and spent a couple hours showing us around and let us hang around some of the players. He was the coolest guy. 2 Quote
MarkInAustin Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Nobis was also the best offensive guard in the SWC by far. A few years earlier I had seen the only other SWC lineman who was the best at his position on defense and offense. Like Nobis, Holub was a unanimous All American LB. And he was an astonishingly good offensive Center. I believe that if Nobis had played OG in the NFL he would have been as good as Fuzzy Thurston of the Packers. Holub did get to play OLB at an all AFC level with KC until his knees got banged up and then he became an All AFC Center. Three linemen/LBs I saw live 1960-1965 were outstanding [when I was at Rice and then UT Law].. Nobis, Holub, and Lilly - in that order. Lilly was only best on D, at least against a good Rice team that went to the Sugar Bowl in 1960. 1 Quote
