Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 3 hours ago Moderators Posted 3 hours ago A few notes coming out of Ohio State as of this morning: - After the first week or so of practice, the QB competition between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz is too close to call at this point, says Head Coach Ryan Day. "The competition continues. They both have had good moments and moments where they're growing. I will say I've been pleased with the progress. It's going to go right down to the wire. The positives of having a competition is that you know every day you got to bring it. The guys are always on edge, they're uncomfortable, they're working at it. I think that's healthy for the entire building." - Defensive tackle Eddrick Houston has returned to practice after being injured last week. Houston looks to be a starter against Texas in just a few weeks. - True freshmen Devin Sanchez and Riley Pettijohn, both who were recruited by the Longhorns, have been impressing early. They both have had their "black stripe" removed from their helmet and are only two of four freshmen to be able to do so up to this point. - Ohio State has landed three wide receivers on the Biletnikoff Award Watch list. 10 1 Quote
Sundancekid Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I hope their qb has a hard time finding his stud receivers. We need to swarm his ass… whoever he is. 6 Quote
Bobbers Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Throwing Sayin in against Texas is a big risk imo. If he implodes, will his confidence be damaged in the near term? I bet if the competition is still close in three weeks we see Kienholz. 1 Quote
Sundancekid Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I don’t want to be the over confident Texas fan but these quarterback options seem loke works in deep progress at best. Quote
Bevo92 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Loving the fact that neither QB has separated himself. Could we have a repeat of 2005 Ohio State v Texas when Jim Tressel platooned his top 2 QBs back and forth all game. They had the elder statesman Justin Zwick and the young but talented Troy Smith (who won the Heisman a year later after undefeated regular season). I remember watching the game, grateful every time Tressel chose to put Zwick in the game. Safe bet but far less talented, less likely to explode on us. Ohio State lost their momentum in the 4th qtr as a result of Vince and team stepping up and lack of rhythm by their QB. Could Ryan Day end up pulling a Tressel and try playing both QB? I think it’s a mistake to play 2 QBs. I’m sure he’ll pick single starter but would be dejavu if he chose to play both. Edited 2 hours ago by Bevo92 Quote
HookemTexas Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I want to see a beatdown like Bama vs Fl St. to start the season a few years ago with Texas playing the role of Bama. Quote

They invested decently in Sayin after Bama. If the back up transferred then they’d have a true FR as a back up. Seems to me that they’re doing more of what we did with Murphy and Quinn. 1 2 Quote

I honestly hope it’s Sayin. The other guy seems to be more mobile. Assuming our pass rush will be a strength, I’d rather go against the less mobile QB. 2 Quote

Why would they be worrying about him transferring in August? Quote
