Not sure why we spend time on recruiting 4star WRs.  We should target the top one or two WRs in the nation, and forget the rest.  Spend the time on the trenches, and fill the WR spot with proven college talent via the portal.  Hall, Nayor, AD, Bond, Bolden, Golden, and the list will go on.  This is the future for the WR position at Texas.

Only prioritize a Wingo, or a DKMoore, and know that proven college WR talent will flock to play for Sark.

AD Mitchell will be the prime example.  Come here for your last year, go in the first round.

Who cares what a players star rating is if they have 4.3 speed and elite movement skills?

Like Brenden Thompson?  I don’t want to disrespect these kids, they are fine athletes who could play at nearly any school in the country.  In this portal age, you’re just not going to crack the WR circle of trust if you’re not a top 100 (or top 50) outta HS.

I don’t see the purpose in wasting a roster spot where you could have had a 3 star DL or IOL like Sydir Mitchell (where vital player development is needed), on a WR like Jaden Alexis/Keithron Lee/Moore/Niblett/Butler/DeBose/Livingstone.

These guys will never see the field because of portals like Bond, Golden, and Bolden — and Niblett is a top 100 prospect.

AD proved the WR position can be very close to “just add water” in Sark system.  Obviously other position groups don’t work like that and require vital development.

More “Sydir Mitchell’s” and less “Brenden Thompson’s”.  Sark has already chosen this path, not sure why it’s controversial.

Every fast wr is not Brennan Thompson.  We’ve had a small sample size to conclude this is the path Sark will always take.  We also had some deficiencies at hs wr recruiting that created some gaps.   K Johnson has some elite traits.  B Thompson is fast, but was small and doesn’t have natural hands.  Most of his hs clips showed he was a body catcher and not a natural wr.  You take a chance on a guy like that because of his speed.  However, they don’t always pan out.  Not every wr transfer has panned out either.

I’m not as strident as you on this issue, but definitely leaning in this direction. From an overall roster management and development perspective it makes sense. Just don’t go too far in one direction.
