  • No. 7 Texas vs. No. 2 Tennessee in Round of 32

    Gerry Hamilton

The No. 7 seed Texas Longhorns (21-12) beat Colorado State Thursday night to advance to the Round of 32 for a third consecutive season. That's a program first since 2009.

Rodney Terry and Longhorns will face a very familiar coach in the Round of 32, Rick Barnes.

No. 2 seed Tennessee (25-8) beat up on a bad Saint Peter's offensive team Thursday night to the tune of 83-49.

No. 7 Texas and No. 2 Tennessee will tip off at 7 p.m. central Saturday night in front of a national television audience on CBS.

Let Weaver cook.  Dude was made for the NCAA tourney atmosphere.  Don’t get greedy trying to steal minutes with Horton.

Love it! And yep, he's played big in big games since high school ... when he left Mansfield Timberview High with one DI offer!

Really like Rick and I hate games like this. Obviously my alma mater is who I pull for, but unlike losing to a LSU, OU etal., I will root for Rick if they get passed us.

Gerry do you think Texas will struggle with Tennessee's length?

Also when you're in Florida do people call Texas 'UT' or the vols?

I do think Texas will struggle on the perimeter with Tennessee's length a little ... but not in a win or lose way.

SEC fans in the Sunshine State call Tennessee "UT" for sure. It's "Texas" in and around the state for the most part.

I'll add this too ... 351 teams play Division I basketball and can advance to the NCAA Tournament

Texas is one of 32 remaining for a third straight season

And it took nearly two decades and 4 coaches for Texas to hit that streak again.

Meanwhile, Cailpari is now 4 seasons removed (covid not included) from back to back Round of 32 appearences.

This is amazing and really puts into perspective how difficult March is.

I would have never believed it has been 17 years since the back to back Bucknell and Bradley round of 64 losses for Self.

Hate to say it, But unless we get hot offensively i see a second round exit incoming saturday. We’re just waaaay to inconsistent, tennessee is just a longer and better team as whole.

    No you don't.

You love being negative about the program, coach, and players.

You’re still crying? Not everybody is a complete homer like you, Pumpkin. Get off of this board and lift some weights or something to get your skin tougher 😂🥲
