  1. There’s a lot of comments. And I haven’t read any of them. Just here to share a few of my thoughts to vent to my OTF family after a tough day of digesting. Sorry in advance for the long post. This does not feel like the end of the world by no measure. If you look at the stat line, penalties might have been the deciding factor, despite how terrible some of Arch’s throws were. On that note, when have we seen an inaccurate ball from Arch prior to this game? As cool as he is, I think he felt the true pressure of being a starting QB in a competitive college setting. He will settle down and start delivering balls on time/schedule like we’re used to seeing. We cannot rely on his wheels to win games. CJ Baxter’s return was a breath of fresh air. That dude is a stud. But Tre lead the stat line. He was elusive and just doesn’t quit on his runs. We have a true tandem set this year of quality backs. Oline looks good. This was a good pash rush defense. Arch did avoid some pockets that collapsed - last year we might have seen a few more QE sacks or balls thrown out of bounds just because of Arch’s athleticism. We miss the soft touch of QE. Arch needs to back off on the heat for his intermediate throws. Honestly, Quinn wins this game easily for Texas. That’s a hard pill to swallow, because Arch is currently and will be the future of this program. It’s just the difference between both players at this moment in time. No mention of Taafe, Simmons, or Hill this game. That’s not gonna happen again Seeing Littleton ball out was super fun to watch. Taking these massive OOC games always feels like a risk. It’s good for the sport, and it’s good for TV, but I’m always on the fence whether or not it’s good for the team. Let these guys get some reps in before playing the best teams in the league. I don’t think this game was of no consequence. Now we HAVE to beat A&M, OU, and one of UGA/UF for good seeding in the CFP we can even be tripped up and miss a CFP spot all together. It only seems unfair because other teams don’t take on the same challenge.
  2. OTF is really the only sports podcast I listen to besides 3rd and Longhorn. As for other podcasts, I primarily listen to Moonshoots with Peter Diamandis. The future is AI. If I’m not listening to podcasts, I listen to Discover Weekly on Spotify. That is the most underrated algorithm on the planet. It’s constantly recommended music I’ve never heard of that immediately makes it into my rotation.
  3. Like they should re-title these threads from “announcement” to “disappointment”. Let’s see if I’m wrong.
  4. How about comparing the defenses Arch faced in ‘24 versus the collective stats of all of the defenses he would have faced if he had played a full season? Seems like a stretch, but maybe some type of predictive analytics of how he could perform this year?
  5. Sorry guys… I don’t understand Pinkerton’s. It was one bad experience, but that’s enough for me to rule out an establishment. And I was eating at the original. Houston has an underrated BBQ scene. Lots of Vietnamese/Asian influenced places (try Blood Bros) and Corkscrew produces the highest quality brisket I’ve had. Only Terry Black’s in Austin has been that consistent for me. Nit-picking opinions about bbq is why Texas has the best bbq in the nation.
  6. Whoever gets Sorrell is getting a steal
  7. Curious to know if Akina’s hire was the reason Joseph left? This sounds like the dream team of defensive coaching staffs.
  8. Juan Davis put in his time with Texas, but even he had more snaps than any other TE in 2023 that is heading into next year (correct me if I’m wrong). I certainly like the talent in Washington and Townsend, but to say we don’t need experience at that position is either naive or ignorant. In any case, we are going to need someone to break out, regardless if they are portal players or existing roster players.
  9. Seriously people, what the hell just happened????
  10. You’re the only one that called out Pavia as a dog this preseason. Thanks to you, I always sound smart when talking to my friends about players I know nothing about. 😂
  11. I guess definition of a trap game would be something we underestimate. We may as fans… let’s hope the team doesn’t. Good news is they’ve already put enough on film that the coaches probably know not to look by them.
