  1. Jeff, you’re on the heater today! I was at the game and a couple things struck me. Anthony pack has ice in his veins but this is a game that should never have been played. This wasn’t a game. It was batting practice. Holy Cross has no business being in the NCAA tournament. They are that bad! There’s a reason that every Texas starter had a hit and some people who weren’t starters had hits, including a grand slam. It’s another example of NCAA being a feckless and misguided organization, that rewards conference tournament champions, regardless of how bad they are. Let’s face it. The Crusaders have a losing record for a reason. They’re one of the worst teams Texas has played all year - frankly, not even good enough to schedule for a midweek game. I’m a season ticket holder and I see all the games at home. I was apologizing to Crusader fans for running up the score when it was 16 to nothing in what should have been a run-rule game, but the NCAA doesn’t allow that in “their”!tournament. It was embarrassing for everyone. The fans of both teams were ready for the game to be over. Then there was more Tom foolery. The NCAA required Texas to cover up the national championship banner over the visitor’s bullpen and forbade Texas from playing the Eye of Texas (which we all sang anyway). I guess they’re afraid of acknowledging there is such a thing as a home-field advantage and want to make everybody feel welcome. As Bobby Burton likes to say the NCAA is twiddling its thumbs while Rome burns. We have unbridled free agency, unlicensed agents running the show, unenforced rules, and coaches quitting while their teams are in the playoffs, and the list goes on…… meanwhile the NCAA is focused on making sure that tiny colleges get a participation ribbon. Time to end the madness, and break from the NCAA.
  2. Great article Jeff. Texas Tech is irrelevant and without principle. Campbell clearly only cares about power and winning and doesn’t care about the integrity of football or his program Joy Maguire has shown that he has no principle he won’t sell because he’s agreed to defend a quarterback who has committed an unforgivable sports sin. When you capitulate and do something you know to be wrong, you no longer have integrity. I’m tired of hearing about how he was “good to me” and how he “was” a respected high school coach. He may have once been outstanding person and coach, but he sold his integrity for money and personal gain. If you have ever read and understood the Lord of the Rings, you will be aware of the meaning of the “wraithing” process. This is when people you would’ve thought were good are corrupted into doing unthinkable things for power or the fear of opposing it. Some German soldiers in World War II are prime examples. Men who were good considered good men in their civilian lives put Jews into gas chambers. It can be a slow process in which you sell your integrity one piece at a time until you have none. That was an extreme example I admit, but it is essentially what had happened to Joey Maguire snd Texas Tech as a whole by refusing to stand up to Cody Campbell and they’re gonna have to live with the consequences, IMO. It is time for Texas to move on, but to remember that In sports and in life there are some things that are not negotiable.
  3. Lubbock has only one redeeming quality. You can get to Colorado in half a day from there. but once you did, why would you come back?
  4. Don’t disagree with the overall strategy, but Walls would a much better choice than Walker as a starter.
  5. I have season tickets and go to every home game. The UT baseball team is very good, but they are not elite. I think they have a chance to get to Omaha. But frankly, I have seen nothing about this team that tells me it’s the one that will go all the way. Too many holes in the hitting lineup, too much inconsistency out of the bullpen, and too much bad injury luck. Losing Jonah Williams right off the bat did not help. I’m hoping for the best, but I do not expect miracles. A trip to Omaha would be a step in the right direction.
  6. Maybe it’s the alcohol. But dude that is sick funny.
  7. I like to hear that. But I know how they feel. Too much of that by Texas lately.
  8. In the NIL era, I’m not sure how much the educational ranking of the university matters to these athletes. But if academics are important to Garror, as some said, then why was he committed to Alabama in the first place? Alabama is not even mediocre, it’s bad. They ranked number 92 among public universities in the United States. Since every state has two major public universities as a rule, they’re near the bottom of the barrel. While Texas ranks number 30 among all universities, including private ones. I saw his interview on OTF and he seems like an intelligent young man. He would be a good fit at Texas and he’s a heck of an athlete. Fingers crossed.
  9. Impressive, motivational speaker is how I will remember him. Rest in peace.
  10. This is terrible news brings tears to my eyes. My thoughts are with the Shipley’s tonight. Hoping for the best for Jordan and his family. Sports is the toy department of life and news like this puts that in perspective.
  11. Agreed. But honestly, he seemed to do that a lot better down the stretch. He made some really clutch catches.
  12. SEC refs are awful. The only thing they haven’t done to try to hurt Texas is chest bump our coach and then call him for a penalty. Our opponents hold and interfere with impunity. I don’t know how they didn’t overturn that two point conversion when the video evidence was compelling. you have to wonder how much the awful officiating is related to the influence of gambling. Corruption in sports is not a new thing. The only alternative explanations are that a fair number of SEC refs are incompetent or biased.
  13. Sounds like Moore has a concussion or a jaw injury. I was watching through my binoculars as he came off the field, and his posture was very oddly hunched over and he was wobbly on his feet. Kind of makes sense if you took a round house to the jaw. If so, won’t be seeing him play for a while. Hopefully he will be okay in a few weeks.
  14. A lot of great points have already been made. I’ll just say that while penalties killed us, Shark was out coached and Arch failed to execute simple short passes at critical moments and frankly throughout the game. How many easy throws did he drill into the ground or throw behind wide open receivers? He also made terrific passes and I believe he will become more consistent over time. But at some point Sark has to prove he can win against elite competition because he hasn’t done it as a head coach and more importantly at Texas. The win against Saban two years ago is the only one. Michigan last year doesn’t count because they were bad. Since then, two losses to Georgia and two losses OSU. The monkey is getting a large on his back. On the positive side,Hats off to the defense. If you only allow 14 points,, your team ought to win even if you committed penalties that gave the other team seven of those points. The good news is that if the offense can just become competent, this team could go all the way.
  15. I expect McCutcheon will play some. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lockett get a few plays in the deep red zone either considering his ability to win 50-50 balls.
