I feel the same pains, granted I'm older than the target audience though I'm not retired yet.
I stopped watching NFL when they were more worried about not playing football, I stopped the NBA when officiating decided the "stars" could literally break rules and not be penalized (double dribble, travel, palming, etc.) in addition to flopping worse than soccer players.
MLB for some reason isn't as entertaining to me anymore.
When I was a kid, I could name every single player on any of the major Houston teams (Oilers, Rockets, Astros). I listened on the radio when the TV was blacked out (Bill Worrell & Milo Hamilton).
I still love Longhorn sports, but like many have said, the transfer and NIL have made it hard to have favorite players because they might be gone the next year. In the NIL fanbox, I got the autographed Wisner poster and Deandre Moore poster; I had ordered frames which and framed them, but those aren't going up on the wall now because it's a Longhorn wall. Change is inevitable, just what will make it on the wall will be more scarce now since there will be fewer players that stay at the school. For that reason, I believe if Arch is able to lead the team to a natty this year (even with all the transfers in), he'll be as beloved as Vince if not more by the burnt orange faithful.
Thanks for reading my rambling on a Monday morning.
