  1. The SEC really wants Texas and ATM to be a top 10 match up at the end of the year IMO. Texas better get past their lull and tighten the straps so we can go get after peoples asses these last 4 games. Let’s quit giving our d a short field to work with and cut out these holding penalties and get back to beating teams like we know we can and should. We should’ve beaten Vandy by at least 21 today personally I think it should’ve been 28-31 if we’d executed in the second half and not turned the ball over on offense.

Weird game. Offense cruised in the first half, then disappeared in the second half. Penalties, turnovers, sacks. Really the same story of the last couple of weeks just with shades of a better QB for the first half.

We could really use more stuff across the middle of the defense. Where are the drag routes, slants, curls routes, deep crossing routes? That great 3rd  and  long conversion…deep slant.

And currently folks are losing their minds while ranked No. 5

The sky is definitely falling!! Probably won’t win another game this decade let alone this century. Did you see how bad our QBs looked in the first half of the UGA game? We have no QBs, no talent at WR, and our running backs don’t even have arms!!! Who’s recruiting these guys?!?! Let’s go beat Vandy with their anchor chain 😂😂😂

    PFF grades vs. Georgia:

    • LT Kelvin Banks: 81.7 pass block grade, 1 sack and 2 pressures allowed
    • LG Hayden Conner: 79.4 pass block grade, 0 sacks and 2 pressures allowed
    • C Jake Majors: 82.0 pass block grade, 0 sacks and 1 pressure allowed
    • RG DJ Campbell: 84.5 pass block grade, 0 sacks and 0 pressures allowed (42 pass block reps)
    • RG Cole Hutson: 45.8 pass block grade, 0 sacks and 2 pressures allowed (21 pass block reps)
    • RT Cam Williams: 55.5 pass block grade, 1 sack and 5 pressures allowed

Where are the other 5 sacks and 16 QB pressures? Do the not count if the guys didn’t actually block them? I understand one was on a CB blitz but the other 6 looked like someone should’ve been responsible on the o-line…

    Beck has looked bad, yes.

Quinn has looked inept vs Oklahoma and Georgia....

Beck still has mechanics and navigates the pocket. Beck had 5 balls dropped that should have been easy catches. That will make you look worse  as well. If it weren't for a Ryan Williams insane catch and run Georgia is undefeated and Beck has a 28pt comback win.

Quinn looked bad against Georgia and played a bad quarter against OU. Inept is not what I would use to describe his play. Similarly to Texas on Saturday the Bana game you’re describing and the deficit the faced was a direct result of Beck’s poor play. Even Williams’ insane catch and run only gave bama the lead. The game wasn’t decided until Beck’s int in the end zone to seal the win for Bama. Beck in 2 more games had only 4 more tds but 4 more INTs than Quinn. Quinn has played much worse than we expect the last two weeks but it he’s not inept nor is Beck the reason Georgia is winning. Speaking of drops Tre Wisner doesn’t drop that ball after Makuba’s int and we score might be a different ball game. Beck may move better in the pocket at times but his footwork broke down Saturday under less duress than Quinn was under. If Quinn’s inept performance resulted in a 31 point win versus a “bad” performance resulting in a td loss I’ll still take Quinn because I don’t believe he’ll stay in this funk for long. We believed in Quinn for a long time and need to support him even more now. If he reaches his potential this year it’s our best chance to win a national title. Again just one guy’s opinion. Arch is GREAT, but I don’t think it’s fair to him to expect greater results than we get with Quinn given their experience. Arch’s ceiling is higher, make not mistake, but we need Quinn this year.

There is looking bad(Beck for this game) then there is complete breakdown of mechanics(Quinn OU/UGA). As bad as Beck played vs us he looked better than Quinn

I would disagree. Beck has looked bad for several games especially with interceptions. Yes he helped bring them back against Bama but he has been turning the ball over waaaay more than or QBs. His numbers were worse than Quinn’s Saturday with WAY better protection. I’ll agree that some of those were bad drops by his guys on about 5 throws but those INTs and other misses were bad mechanics too.

Georgia has a damn good defense.

Quinn Ewers is still a very good quarterback. The overreaction to the UGA game is insane.

Agree!!  Look how many great QBs Bill Belichick made look awful. UGA is damn good defensively up front especially on Saturday. They created so much havoc there in the last quarter and a half of the first half there was probably not much adjustment we could reasonably make to counter them. They were better Saturday, it’s ok. There’s a reason they’ve only lost 3 regular season games in the last 4 years. They’re damn good and very well coached. We did underestimate them to some degree imo. Kirby did a great job getting them angry and feeling disrespected to come out playing fierce. You add in our complete lack of execution on offense with early turnovers it fed into what we got.

Texas should win out heading into Texas A&M. Should!

Agree! This mid season lull seems to be a theme. Makes sense that kids lose some focus in the middle of the schedule then dial back in for the stretch run. The most meaningful games are coming up and we need to kick the pace up heading into the finish to pull away from the pack. Florida will be interesting depending on what happens with UGA in Jacksonville.

  9. Thanks CJ, after rewatching the game a couple of times Texas really did have more opportunities to move the ball and score than it felt like in game. The d line shifts and blitzes were killing us but now that we’ve seen it may not be as much of a factor in the next game especially with our o line size and experience. A more confident offense that’s been executing at a high level like we were with Quinn pre-injury will make a huge difference in the game. One thing I’ve noted is how great Georgia’s tackling was in 1:1 open field situations. We’re not to that level and that’s one thing that would really like to see our defense improve on. Hopefully our execution and confidence rebounds and starts to build like it did last year leading into the big 12 championship.

  10. Good stuff, I think the Ags might find LSU a little more troubling than they expect this weekend. It’s like basketball now, we’re still in the drivers seat. If we win out we control our destiny. If we do face UGA again in ATL it’s an opportunity to show how we’ve grown and improved against the gold standard right now. Even if we lose I think we still get in. Let’s get focused and mean for the rest of the season. All that matters is who is still standing at the end of the playoff. We can be that team, it’s up to each man to know it, want it, mean it, and go PROVE IT!

    Sarkisian on the bottle throwing.

"We have a passionate fanbase and I think that showed Saturday night... I think we all just have to use better discretion."

Honestly, would like him to come down harder on that bs. It was pitiful and tacky acting like a bunch of spoiled entitled toddlers throwing stuff on the field. Yes the call was horrid, yes we might have gotten robbed there, but there is not excuse for that behavior. None, period. It cost our school 250k. It should have cost us yards on the field, it could caused injury to people on the field if full/nearly full cans/bottle thrown hit someone from that distance, and regardless of the call we have more class and higher standards than that at the University of Texas. Moreover, if you’re an official coming into Austin now you may have some inherent desire to tighten things up when calling a game at Texas because of this and the timing of the correction. Basically proving that crowd temper tantrums can’t and won’t work to affect the outcome of a call. The sad thing is that they were probably getting together and make the correct call anyway but we’ll never know now. As a life time Longhorn this is the most upset I’ve been at our fans. Even more than when we booed our own team about 10 years ago. Bottom line we have to be better than that.

  12. Absolutely, WE f’d around and WE found out what happens when you think you’re ready versus knowing you’re ready. We got what we needed Saturday. Now it’s our turn to get that hunger and fight back on offense so we can dominate games like he know we can.
