  1. I mean, Bill Self isn't coming here. If he did, he'd bust the salary structure and the player budget, but he would win. Texas most likely will try to finesse this, because keeping up appearances is what they do best.
  2. Would they have signed off on Lute Olson? There are plenty of guys we can go through. But times have changed. Miller and Wade were both in the federal case, and the things they did (that we know of) are now permitted. In fact, it has to be done.
  3. When people became disappointed with who Texas brought in in the portal, perhaps they should look at it as having maxed out their budget. They took Kent and Larry because they best represented the kind of player who might be able to make the jump, because they didn't have to money that some of these other schools did. They couldn't get Toppin, and a couple of other guys with high price tags. They tried... just couldn't make a deal.
  4. That's shortsighted. But people who know me know I would say that.
  5. Kenpom's expected wins for Texas currently adds to 2.62, so it seems like you are right. Torvik is at 2.75.
  6. Noticed that. Without dragging RT into this thread, that's a factor in what the other teams in the SEC have to deal with.
  7. Seems like ISU has been in a funk for a while, mid-season slump maybe.
  8. I noticed there are only a handful teams on the Other at large list. I think that's due to the P5 playing extra conference games, keeping non-P5 teams from getting a resume-polishing win. I believe Lunardi still has 14 SEC teams in -- for that to happen, 12/13/14 would need to win multiple games in the SECT, knocking out higher seeds that are already in.
  9. The schedule lightens up after tonight. All the games can be won, but also lost.
  10. So this is Indiana football. They're fine for now. He's shown that he's a very good coach but he's a long way from being ready for the SEC.
  11. He's never recruited high D-I. I'd be shocked if Texas went for that.
  12. For something that is now allowed? That would be an interesting question.
  13. I think storming can be dangerous and I'm generally against it, but this is way over the top.
  14. I think this is correct. It would be great to win a game this week but if they don't, it's time to win beginning at South Carolina. Fortunately, the schedule actually lightens up at that point.
  15. Thing to remember: According to KenPom, Texas still has the toughest schedule in the SEC. That won't be going down this week. After this week, they'll be meeting teams at their level or worse.
  16. No reason to bail at the moment. It would be excellent if they can win one of these two home games.
  17. Indiana fans: "MAKE HIM SAY NO!!"
  18. So she can increase her donations to the program after the move.
  19. I believe I saw that one first when researching, the last time Texas got mashed and the Fire RT crew came in for duty.
  20. Yes, dated the same day as the ISU release and tweet. If he signed, why not say that? The school might not put out the terms but the media surely would, as that's basically the first question a reporter would ask. (What are the terms? What are the buyouts?) I think the last extension was Ot-friendly -- he owes much less to leave than ISU owes if he is fired. Also, it's been almost two months and no details. I don't think the deal is done, and if it is done, he hasn't actually signed it.
  21. https://cyclones.com/news/2024/12/17/mens-basketball-otzelberger-contract-extended-to-2032.aspx Nowhere in there does it say "signed." No details, as you usually see if it's a state school. But I could be wrong.
  22. I agree, he was not treated well at IU. You talked about Nebraska football.... They fired Frank Solich because he wasn't Tom Osborne, and they've found no one like Osborne since. I grew up watching Big Ten ball and IU was different/special. Knight actually elevated it and kept it consistently nationally relevant. This status is not a given, even though a handful of schools have the fan base interest to keep it relevant.
  23. No, they announced an extension. Contract details were not released (because I don't think the contract had been prepared). I don't think Iowa State can "match any offer." He will end up in the Big Ten or SEC because that's where the money is. If Terry is let go, of course Texas should get involved.
  24. He hasn't won enough. If he were Pitino at that age, sure, but Rick has always won.
