  1. A couple of nuggets on the running back room as Texas officially enters its bye week today. Reminder, there is no practice Friday morning or this weekend. *** – I am told Jaydon Blue has had a strong week of practice so far. The two fumbles suffered against Mississippi State have left him committed to bouncing back in a big way against Oklahoma in Dallas. Blue doesn't lack for confidence and right now is chomping at the bit to get the ball back in his hands in a meaningful game. – RB Jerrick Gibson is expected to be as close to full strength against Oklahoma as he has been all season long. The freshman back has been dealing with a lingering ankle, however after just four touches a week ago and the bye week, the former IMG Academy running back is expected to return to his healthiest form since the season opener. – Grad transfer RB Velton Gardner was inactive a week ago due to injury in what had become a pretty surprising development. I was told the injury was a cut above the eye that left Gardner sidelined last weekend. I would consider him questionable at the moment – have yet to hear a definitive update on him just yet. – RB Colin Page is recovering well, though I have yet to hear what his status will be for Oklahoma. Regardless, health is slowing returning to the Texas running back room.
  2. It won't a make a difference.
  3. Texas now has Louisiana Tech and UTSA scheduled for 2028. La Tech is September 2, 2028 UTSA is September 16, 2028
  4. It's cool when hearing Sark speak about this game, he truly gets it and appreciates it. You can tell this game means something to him which is very cool from the outside.
  5. Texas announced Thursday afternoon they have scheduled a home, non-conference game against Louisiana Tech for September 2, 2028 – likely the season opener.
  6. Carlton is a big fan of Texas.
  7. 2026 OL Nick Evers tells me he has yet to check about going to the Texas-Georgia game, but "that might be a good one to hit up!"
  8. Tigers 65-1 stays alive.
  9. A bit of a difference between their skillsets leads me to think Texas will take one now and address the other's skillset in the portal. Texas A&M is doing whatever they can to hold onto Kelshaun, where FSU's disastrous season has seen just about everyone meaningful in their class open back up.
  10. local 2027 OLB from Copperas Cove
  11. Kinsler Hudl: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/17922740/656df52f66558d0c381b42ca Kinsler also attends Bergen Catholic, the former home of Sydir Mitchell.
  12. A couple of notes to pass along from the recruiting trail. *** – On the topic of 2025 WR Daylan McCutcheon, I spoke to someone plugged into the area who said if there was a leader in the clubhouse to flip McCutcheon at the moment, it would be Texas. That may or may not be a surprise given he was on campus for the Mississippi State game and officially visit on June 14, but that was the word passed along. McCutcheon has been committed to Florida State since July 13 and is starting to hear more from schools like SMU and TCU in recent weeks. – I spoke briefly with 2026 Mansfield Lake Ridge OL Felix Ojo who mentioned he would be back on campus for the Texas-Georgia game. Ojo also says his communication with Kyle Flood and the Texas staff has remained in contact with Ojo several times each week according to the 6–7 prospect. – On the out of state front, a name to know is 2026 DB Simeon Caldwell out of Jacksonville, Florida. The 6-3 defensive back is a national top-100 prospect per the ranking services and is a candidate tor receive a visit from the Texas staff when the Longhorn coaches get on the road later this week. Caldwell told OTF he won't be able to make it to campus this month, however there is communication between the two sides there. – Going up to the northeast, Texas hosted NJ EDGE Jermaine Kinsler on June 1 for the Elite Camp and right now the two have remained in contact as the season has progressed. Kinsler told OTF he was "probable" but not 100% sure to make the Texas-Georgia game in Austin on October 19.
  13. Home of 5-star 2026 Tyler Atkinson and 2026 DL Bryce Perry-Wright as well.
  14. It's time for the Gritty Tigs!
  15. I mean that can't be a surprise to anyone regarding the source. OleMiss ahead of Texas, cmon now.
  16. One of Robertson or Cruz.
  17. TyAnthony Smith maybe the biggest surprise from signing day to today. Adding 25 pounds or so from signing day to week five has been massive for getting him on the field. There's a reason why they call him Baby Hurricane too. That 4th down stop earlier this season was a prime example of his quick instinct.
  18. High hopes for JJR during his time in Austin.
