  1. They've made incredible investments into athletics being the main part of the A&M experience. They've changed AD's. They've changed conferences. They've changed their image with helicopters, WRTS, SEC,SEC, Johnny Football, etc. They've paid bags before it was legal. They've changed coaches. They've tried short term investments into their future with crazy NIL, and longterm investments with the move to the SEC. They've lowered admission standards. They've upgraded facilities. All the constant change, but the results are incredibly consistent. So what haven't they changed? Whats consistent? Their traditions. Their town. The fanbase.
  2. Yep, but someones probably gonna pay it. NIL in college basketball vs college football are two different animals. A guy I follow once said NIL (football) means your main competitor most of the time is the dumbest one, the program willing to outspend for a single blue chip who becomes one of 22. Best example was TT buying Micah Hudson, when they could have allocated the same money for a handful of players to transform for their terrible defense. Just bad NIL management. Basketball NIL goes to a player(s) whose going to be one of 5 and can make a significant impact on your season. And theres probably 120 teams that can afford to pay one guy top dollar. The top 30 programs have more competition now than ever to secure the commitment of the best players.
  3. My theory. Kansas and the bluebloods have lost a big chunk of their advantage. NIL and portal in basketball disperses the top talent amongst 200 + teams. One acquisition in basketball can make a difference to your season and everyones trying to play. Pre-NIL/ Portal the top talent was mostly dispersed amongst the blue bloods through HS recruiting and a few transfers here and there. It's going to be harder for the perennial top programs to maintain dominance year after year going forward. Seasons similar to this one for the Jayhawks are going to be more frequent.
  4. I'm not sure how this works but didn't CDC have a part in Shaka to Marquette to clear the way for Beard? Assuming we perform to season baseline the rest of the way (1 or 2 more games total) , Is this how its gonna shake out again, if the right guy has been identified and agreed?
  5. I absolutely was being a smartass Clint Baros. Just a statement on Austins parking environment these days. Good advice from Jeff Howe. Enjoy the game. Moody is awesome!
  6. Rodney Terry @ Fresno St., 2011-2018 126-108 Overall 62-58 Mountain West conference, 1 season out of 7 finished better than 4th place Rodney Terry @ UTEP, 2018-2021 37-48 overall 19-33 CUSA, finished 14th, 11th and 5th in his three seasons. Cmon UTEP and Fresno State, your coach needed more support.
  7. I copied this from a few weeks ago....... The University of Texas had just fought a long PR battle over the Eyes of Texas and the dust had finally settled between all the parties involved. IMO this played a factor in Terry being named HC. The only reason? no. A factor in the decision? yes. The blowback had they gone a different direction wasn't worth it.
  8. FACT: CDC knows basketball and he personally prefers to watch the sport of basketball over all other sports. Rodney Terry was way down the list of candidates.
  9. Terry's resume: 2011-2018 Fresno state 126-108. One tournament appearance. 2018-2021 UTEP 37-48 CDC's first choice? The University of Texas had just fought a long PR battle over the Eyes of Texas and the dust had finally settled between all the parties involved. IMO this played a factor in Terry being named HC. The only reason? no. A factor in the decision? yes. The blowback had they gone a different direction was not worth it.
  10. For you historians, if we're on the bubble at 8-10 or even 7-11, with 5-10 Q1 record will our OOC schedule at 352 (kenpom) sink us?
  11. Texas up to #32 in NET and #49 in Kenpom. Last seven games all Q1, started 0-3, now 3-4. Props to Terry and the team. Gotta win a few 50/50 games now.
  12. A&M plays like a Barnes team and without Kaluma we dont have a chance. We wont win too many games without him regardless of the opponent.
  13. Tre Johnson last six games. 34-90 fg. 37% 8 for 34 from 3P. 23%
  14. Much needed win. Shedrick seems like a great kid and plays hard. He did indeed have a few big plays down the stretch. His physical limitations drive me nuts tho. He has very little lower body strength and a weak center of gravity. Constantly off balance from minimal contact. His falls to the floor would make a great drinking game.
  15. The sum is less than the parts at this point. Kaluma, Mark, and Johnson get significant minutes for any team in the country. Pope, Weaver and Shedrick are good pieces on any team. Its the coach's responsibility to meld the talent and I think Terry has produced a very average result to this point in the season.
  16. Sorry, I dont have specific names. But we were just coming off the lengthy ordeal of managing the Eyes of Texas controversy and I think the ramifications of NOT hiring RT was a factor that was considered. Very good man, OK coach. I just dont think his resume fits the mold of CDC's past hires here.
  17. Had RT lost one or two games earlier in his intern NCAA tournament run I believe we have a different coach right now. Just my opinion but I summize the decision to keep RT had a political slant more so than emotional given the campus environment at the time. No way does his resume come out on top of a full scale, clean slate coaching search.
  18. If we're gonna dissect plays frame by frame and make calls by definition lets take a look at Scattebo's long catch. Jessie Palmer "I dont know who they're gonna call this on" "There's a little shove in there late"
  19. CDC loves the game of basketball. He had his hand forced with RT. He'll get the right guy in place soon enough.
  20. There's lots of Christmas Holiday travel planned months ago as well.
  21. Ha! Go to 3:15 in the video. Savage drops the ball before he crossed the goal line and it wasn't even close. Cheaters
