  1. Not sure if this was already covered elsewhere, but: Freeman dropping early season games is a warning flag for me - are you just filing that under a young coach learning how to better prepare? Second is a hypothetical, if Texas had played ND in semis last year, wouldn't Sark likely be the one in the NCG? Lastly and maybe most time sensitive - if Freeman is #1 on CDCs succession plan, would Freeman leave ND for any current opening (I think no for several reasons) and if so would he prefer Texas... what do you think? BONUS: And would he be waiting for tOSU?
  2. I think our people and his people would rather talk about him not leaving Texas for the NFL than whether he's on the OC hot seat.
  3. What about #4 then, if we're about to repeat Ames/Stillwater, while your players are hopefully offline, you - or a friend without your knowledge - plant a fat "think hard about how much you'd miss me" postgame storyline. Saban used the "I'm not appreciated" bit on the regular and just defended Franklin with it last weekend. Or, #5 Miss Terry wants to help Lane flip some local kids 🤣 she's been pulling all the strings for years!
  4. Wait till Florida finds out he doesn't call his own plays, they'll have to cut his salary by a few mil
  5. Don't over think it. The offense stinks. Vandy, Arkansas, and A&M will be bigger tests than Florida, Kentucky or MSU.
  6. One last thought on National Firing Day: what do Ed Orgeron, Gene Chizik, Jimbo Fisher, and Mack Brown have in common? Hint: it's different than Day and Saban. But you can argue Urban and Dabo are in the same camp. None of the guys getting their papers this week have it.
  7. Changing HC is a huge gamble so I'm hoping Sark solves the offensive execution woes. But to your point on 2 semifinal appearances: we didn't win, and Penix super cape mode aside, the offense was not up to the task. The RZ and 3rd down issues are mind boggling. So I'm not sure the argument is reassuring. As for Arch, I'm in disbelief that his floor is not "competent college QB". The yips behind this line may be a real problem - but looking at him in context of Card, Casey, and Quinn, there also seem to be some recurring themes with mechanics and panic. The paradox there: -if Arch doesn't portal, it seems unlikely that he will be headed to the draft next year, so 1) he's gotta turn into Pavia not Allar in '27 while 2) how do we retain and develop QB2 into the '28 QB? - if he does portal, who's your '26 QB and does he repeat the steep leaning curve?
  8. My concern- Sark's offense is too much for college underclassmen, which you inevitably need some to play even with the portal. If that's right, the big question is what offense will Sark allow an OC to run? Something other than "his" / what he wants to major in? Is he going to let <insert: the next Joe Brady or Will Stein, or a rental like Chip Kelly - whats ole Kingsbury up to?> run the show, from roster to scheme to script? Or is he just going to allow an eye in the sky press box play suggestor on headset?
  9. If the suggestion is to hire an OC, there are plenty of examples of it not working, see Petrino 2x recently with Jimbo and Pittman, or what's happening with James Franklin. Day renting Chip for last year seems like the big outlier. Regardless, Sark doesn't need delegation to see the OL problem in the offseason. That is mystifying. A new OL coach would offer a spark with a portal overhaul, along with a scheme adjustment by Sark to lower difficulty level when key players are young. Sark's loyalty and adaptability will be tested. If 20+ years has shown anything, other than Ohio State, a HC firing leads to wandering in the desert for years or decades. It is the last resort after the last resort.
  10. Eval misses happen which is why the lack of portal action is so surprising. But there were some big fish (humans) that this staff did not reel in for whatever reasons, and Cam and Banks flips from Oregon required luck of Cristobal leaving (which in a small world twist, Mario now has James Brockermeyer starting at Center). I hope Saban offers Sark some advice on this front.
  11. 2046 - if true they are nuts. No way Ohio State or Michigan lets this happen. SEC can invite them and ND today! 🤣
  12. After reading the weather thread I'm going Texas 13 Florida 2. That includes a pick 6 and missed PAT.
  13. Instead of a returner bring an extra blocker?! See how well the punter does in the rain with wet footing?
  14. At least we're not in the big 12, our monsters are real, and have to worry about other monsters too.
  15. Whoever said this was a safe space for people who just want to enjoy the journey, or trust the process, or go 1-0?! No, we must manifest every corner case disaster out into the open before it can turn into reality!
  16. Not that pro franchise owners don't make weird decisions, but what has Riley done lately to suggest he'd succeed in the league? And, why would a guy who fled the SEC for the Pac12 and easier recruiting want to go pro? Now that I think about it, wouldn't his perfect job be Tech, if USC is happy to let him walk?
  17. Didn't people learn about Indiana last year?! Kind of looks like Bama and Ole Miss have the inside track to the SEC championship assuming we're going to fart away at least one game. The shocker will be if Georgia takes 3 SEC home losses (Bama, Ole Miss, and us) so the road to Atlanta still runs through Athens.
  18. The only surprise was that Jerry Jones didn't announce it.
  19. Did the Dr confirm his availabilty for the SEC title game and Heisman ceremony too?
  20. Let's hope this doesn't become another backup QB puts on a cape vs Texas story where we dont prepare or adjust. Maybe the time to get your Harrison Bailey prop bets in. #BFS
  21. Any idea if a medical extension will still be possible? Not a wild scenario for a guy with pro prosoects to lose year 4 in game 2 to injury, and then something else happens in fall camp year 5... needs to get back on the field for draft purposes. But I guess there has to be a limit at some point.
  22. A year ago, we thought a mobile Joe Burrow was wasting away on the sidelines while a future 7th rounder plateaued. There are new datapoints. Hopefully misleading and incomplete but nevertheless can't blame our fans. Everyone inside a college blueblood or NFL lockeroom knows the reality of tape is worse than the distasteful fan boos, Sark and Arch and Taaffe essentially acknowledged it.
  23. To clarify, can Caldwell or Owens play the Haynes roll? If not, do you go to Lacey if Arch goes down? Or, if the drop-off to QB2 isn't much, do you just not implement the Haynes plan, making it easier for QB2 to come in with the preferred scheme? Your approach makes perfect sense given the situation, but I'm not sure it's a season long solution.
  24. This is fine, but when (not if) your running QB is injured, then what? Another redesign? Shouldn't QB2, or 2A and 2B depending on how you read the room, be able to run similar game plans to the starter?! Is QB4 that guy but not ready?!
