  1. Ya know, maybe aggie baseball isn't quite dead yet. The cocks aren't the best measuring stick (hahaha) but we'll see if it gives any mental momentum going into the Arkansas-Texas-LSU stretch.
  2. Which one?! The El Camino Real runs through Austin and San Antonio, not Lubbock! (bypassing BCS I might add)
  3. I would have believed that an SEC secret cabal was tampering to drive up Tennessee payroll was the culprit, but brother Dan ratting out the family is truly juicier.
  4. Congrats, Bracket Knower! My best bracket was hit by against Arkansas too. But you trusted Shaka?!
  5. Ahead of schedule but haven't arrived... Hoping for lots of June baseball!
  6. I stopped watching after Houston didn't seem to get any momentum after halftime. Where did clutch city come from?! 3 things that stood out to these Texas eyes: 1) teams that stagnate on offense for more than 3 minutes doom themselves. I didn't see that coming from Duke. 2) the corollary to 1, any top team can make a 9-0 run in 60-90 seconds. No lead is safe, no deficit is too big. Duke and Auburn hit 7 threes each today. Florida hit 8, Houston hit 10. 3) Kelvin stole a page out of Coach Ks book managing the final few minutes. And he built a team with defense to cause #1 without neglecting the offense for #2. But I'm not sold on him or the Cougs until they get the ultimate prize. Lastly despite appreciating the Barnes and Beard/Terry era defenses, I hope Miller unleashes a top 10 offense. Anything less and we just aren't serious.
  7. I wonder if Canady sold him on the aura of having the only other Tesla in town. Might even share her fast charger with him?
  8. Having 3 out of 4 losses to the same team stings. Gotta knock them off of the hill. Next up OU softball, then Georgia football. (I don't count Tennessee baseball in that dynasty tier but they also look to be firmly planted)
  9. Wish the Monterrey gal wanted to associate herself with the home state flagship instead of mobilehoma. Defense by itself doesn't win championships, and the theme across sports right now seems to be that offense does. Explosives in football. HRs in baseball. 3s in basketball.
  10. 1 - name your 5 most valuable starters, then tell how we develop their backups to still win in case of injury 2 - revisit what was wrong in the secondary pre GP, and why there won't be a learning curve this year. Factors beyond dominant edges, Akina + Nansen history - what's the key to the PK defense to keep holding opponents under 20
  11. Mock from your list but the answer is Peter the Great
  12. Love these segments getting to know coaches as people. As for approaching a huge game, I like hearing how even seemingly obvious points deserve emphasis. For example, even though it's a team game with interdependency, I appreciated what he said about players needing to individually rise to the moment and win 1 on 1. And as he said, PTL! and 🤘
  13. And basketball, all in Austin come to think of it. I guess they are our biggest rival now? Someone should post that on TexAgs. I like that in the SEC we're not everyone else's super bowl but this no weeks off thing in ever sport is wild. It's really something that we've been up to the task out of the gate.
  14. How'd he fracture it? If it's week to week hopefully that means pain mgmt without structural risk?
  15. If there's another thing that doesn't need to be said in college baseball especially at Texas: "Pitching matters" is like the fieldturf is green and the sky is burnt orange! Just messing with ya, UGA is a great team, we better bring it all the way around.
  16. Or maybe not!
  17. We'll still need some juice from our offense, esp w injuries. I'm hoping for Jonah to score at some point this weekend! Kendall watched us in person and if he+staff still want to make us earn it vs Georgia, that's ok!
  18. Nor Baker over Burrow, at minimum. Would Sooners even pick him at #1?!
  19. Georgia bats are for real unfortunately. But Pig at the Baum is still worse than Dawgs at the Disch.
  20. KU is instructive for several reasons. 1) portal bets might not pay off (Dickinson as a defensive liability) 2) hall of fame coaches can make a difference late in the game - but still need players to execute (losing KJ was the final straw) 3) out atheleting with nba talent is preferable, but not if they don't gel into a rotation with consistency (ku has lost uncharacteristically recently) 4) the tourney is a crap shoot On top of this - it will be interesting to see which schools put basketball first in their their $20M budget. Is it a boon for teams like 'Nova? How much will Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, UNC, UCLA commit to football? Will the outside $ still buy a roster on top of the school payroll budget? All of that makes it difficult for me to have year in year out expectations for our soon to be homerun hire to meet a top 10 / second weekend standard.
  21. Busting out the wrts... just need bk to show the dance moves exiting a swag copter to complete the scene
  22. Will Wade: second best coach in the ACC?!
  23. I've been just checked out enough to have not known about Tony Bennett. 55 years old, huh... Too bad for Russell Springmann, best wishes to him. Very happy for Jai, surprised he wasn't higher on our rumor list. Neptune: next worst thing to interim is anointed? Next - hopefully RT gets a gracious send off, no ill will, Elite 8 and all... I hope we are all wowed at the outcome and please please please let it include an offense that doesn't nap periodically during games.
  24. Personally I'd like to see less disparaging comments about RT, making him a dead man walking. He knows UT expectations, he's said so. CDC will evaluate the product on the court, without fan complaints at near the same levels as parking problems and bathroom lines. If there is an upgrade to be made, it will be done, at the earliest time feasible. Meanwhile we should enjoy this team which may end up no worse off than those coached by Self, Calipari, Few, etc if the metric is second weekend. Or Barnes, Beard and Shaka for that matter. Or Buzz and Porter. March Madness is an exciting exercise in futility. In 36 seasons games, Kelvin Sampson has more NCAA violations than elite 8 appearances (3). UH has as many championships as Texas. Good luck RT and team!
