Coffee and Football: Wednesday 02/05
Blake Munroe replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
We can get hammered and talk baseball with no filter… Beer and Baseball After Dark. Although Bobby may not go for that. -
Grew up back and forth between Comanche and North Richland Hills, but graduated from CHS. Moved back to DFW with every intention of staying there. Came to Comanche to visit my mom, ran into this girl while getting some beer at a store and asked for her number. Which lead to moving back and eventually marrying her…. And haven’t left since (minus a couple of years of moving to Stephenville).

I haven’t really got to deep dive into opponents yet, but I planning on starting this week. Oklahoma State usually has a dynamite offense, but I’m not sure on their pitching or defensively period. Ole Miss will have some dudes, but they’re not getting any love anywhere that I’ve seen. Louisville… I have no idea.

Fox Sports Ranks QE3 As Sixth Best QB In 2025 Draft
Blake Munroe replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Full story: https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/ranking-2025-qb-draft-class-shedeur-sanders-cam-ward-no-1-whos-next -
The five before him: 1. Shedeur Sanders 2. Cam Ward 3. Jalen Milroe 4. Kyle McCord 5. Jaxson Dart 6. Quinn Ewers, Texas (6-2, 210) Experience: 36 starts (22 years old) Prospect grade: 2nd-3rd Round Best-case comp: Brock Purdy Questions about the offense he ran won't plague Ewers in the buildup to the draft; it'll be concerns about his size and durability. The slim-shouldered Ewers, who missed seven games over his three years in Austin, doesn't look the part of a prototypical NFL quarterback. Neither does Brock Purdy, and yet that's who Ewers — at his best — reminds me of. Both are quick decision-makers who distribute the ball all over the field, making up for a lack of RPMs with anticipation and accuracy and a willingness to attack tight windows down the seams. Both are often characterized as "sneaky athletic," a begrudging acknowledgment of their ability to navigate a collapsing pocket and squirt free for 10 yards on a third-and-8. Ewers threw four interceptions in Texas' three postseason games before heading to the draft and leaving the Longhorns' mantle to Arch Manning rather than transferring and earning millions in NIL money. What teams think of that decision could very well determine where Ewers lands on Day 2.

And, again, thank you all for the continuous support. It means the world to all of us. We can’t thank you all enough. We’re in the process of sending out about 300ish thank you cards, but this is my big thank you card to the OTF board! I want to add that, somehow, despite not playing or lifting weights until the past couple of weeks… he’s throwing harder and faster than ever before. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Noticeably harder. To the point where I’m about done playing catch with him. It’s insane. I don’t even know how that’s possible given the circumstances!

Haha I showed her the thread. She now knows. He’ll be fully cleared for football in exactly 7 days, but she has about 6 months to prepare herself. He played JV this past season and is expected to play both ways (WR/flex TE and safety) on varsity the next two years. Obviously what happens in baseball going forward could change that. He’s also running track he told us today. The 800 and the mile. He must be a glutton for punishment.

So many of you have been supportive since Colt’s football accident in November, along with the complications in December, and have asked non stop on how he’s doing. Today we reached a milestone. I posted this in the Alumni game baseball thread but wanted to put it here so everyone that’s been asking could see. November 5, 2024: Today, February 1, 2025: He took the field for the first time since the accident and played the entire game. He started at catcher and remained there the majority of the game, then finished out at shortstop. It’s absolutely insane to me that in less than three months we went from ICU and not knowing if he’d even make it (there for awhile it was looking grim) to now playing baseball and doing what he loves. Thank you all for your support, thoughts and prayers, and everything in between it means the world to my family and I. Krista and I both can’t thank you all enough. Now if anyone wants to help me tell my wife that he’s decided to play football again… that would really be appreciated. 😂

Baseball: 2025 Alumni Game thread
Blake Munroe replied to Jeff Howe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I really wish I could have been there today and I planned on it. But it was amazing to get to see this today instead, especially after everything he went through from November 5 to right before Christmas… From not knowing if he’d ever play again to back in action today was incredible. About to tear up as I type this. Well worth missing today’s Alumni game. See y’all Feb 14th weekend in Arlington though!- 133 replies
