    One thought on the WR pipeline - don't you think what we took in the portal had an impact on what we took from high school? Maybe it's a "chicken-or-the-egg" situation, but it seems like we were fine with taking a flyer on some guys with upside because we pulled in so much help from the portal. Plus, the portal is always littered with good WR. It's the position I worry about least when it comes to getting the right guys from high school. That we can ignore the room, but busts seem less costly especially at a school like Texas that is an attractive destination.

    I lived in Tennessee for several years. I think we'll get along better with Vols fans than you might expect from social media. They're not great, but better than they seem. LSU fans are awful. One of the worst fanbases in the SEC and the country. In many ways they're as bad as Aggies, but without the academic "rigor" and militarism.

    Sean Payton has a deal with Jordan, but it's nowhere near the visibility of Reid's deal with State Farm.

    The rumor is that On3 guys drop Texas recruits because Texas players have underperformed in the draft. Which seems too stupid to be true. Why look at lagging indicators from old staffs to predict future performance? Surely they can't be that dim. But the rumor still persists on reddit and other sites.

    Even if he's closer to 260 than 285, it's the easiest thing in the world for an 18-year-old to add weight. If he's got the strength, speed, and intangible qualities for the position, then the weight is no obstacle.

    It' strange to see so many drafts with Murphy ahead of Sweat. I think Murphy is going to kill it in the league, but I assumed teams would be wary of his height and length. Between the two of them, Sweat seems like more of a traditional NFL DT.

    Orgeron would be a "great" hire in the wouldn't it be hilarious? sense, but I don't know if he fits well with the culture that Sark has built. It's fun to have a madman around until they set fire to the building.

    It seems likely that Harbaugh will take DC Jesse Minter with him and that OC Sherrone Moore will get promoted. Suggests we'll have better luck pulling some guys from the defense while the offense may stay mostly intact.

    For reference, Marion announced he was leaving on January 8. Texas announced it was hiring Chris Jackson on January 24. That is 16 days. Bo Davis to LSU was announced on January 10 and it is now the 24th. Even if the search takes several more days, the timeline isn't unusual. Frankly, I'd rather Sark take his time and get the hire right than rush things and get suboptimal results. I know there is concern about recruiting, but that's a problem that affects us for a season. Hiring the wrong coach can affect us for years.

    This seemed like it might be the case. I was hoping that we were talking to Ryan Nielsen, but that blew up yesterday. Do you think we're still trying to pull someone from the NFL or would first choice be someone currently in CFB?

    Mitchell seems to have the highest upside, but last I heard (mostly from Scipio) he gets winded quickly and they can't leave him in for a long drive. I've heard literally nothing about Bryant, which is usually a bad sign. Of course I thought the same thing about Sweat moving up after Coburn got drafted so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    It's Bobby's website but he's still "ranked" as a sophomore. I love it.
