  1. Great news about Safety and the CB room. Sounds like guys will need to earn snaps rather than winning them by default.
  2. You aren't wrong about Hayden Conner. But he's a longhorn legend for icing the Bama game with a single hand.
  3. Apparently he's the strongest guy on the team.
  4. I feel like no matter how well we evaluate prospects and no matter how good the S&C program is, there's always going to be a couple of guys who can never stay healthy enough to contribute. Hopefully Vasek is more of a Jordan Shipley than another Jake Smith.
  5. Good news, but I have the sneaking suspicion this guy was never coming to Texas. We need to maintain a good relationship with a local team that manufactures talent, like Lake Travis, and publicly dragging the kid would probably not have gone over well with the LT coaches. No need to burn bridges. Just publicly state that the kid is still being recruited while telling him behind closed doors that he should look elsewhere. Or maybe (and more likely) that's just the fiction I'm telling myself so I can maintain my regard for the Texas staff.
  6. I really hope all our guys get drafted, but KRob especially. Dude came over with Sark and stuck it out despite having a limited role. I feel like he really bought in and has worked for every rung he's climbed on the ladder. Any word on Whittington? Did he not participate again?
  7. The home slate for 2025 is garbage. SJSU, UTEP, and SHSU for OOC, plus Vandy in conference play. We catch Arkansas and A&M at home, which will be nice. But that's about it.
  8. Manning looks huge compared to Ewers. Niblack is smaller than I expected. Definitely doesn't look 230 lbs. The o-line look like absolute monsters. Cam Williams especially but every one of them is a beast.
  9. He's fine if we're using him as depth for <20 plays / game. If he's the starter in August...
  10. I can't remember if it was Bobby or Gerry, but someone mentioned that whether Sark takes two or just one DL from spring portal will tell us a lot about how that room is doing. Hopefully Bryant or Mitchell can step it up because we really need a true NT.
  11. Always love to get Bob Shipley's thoughts. The man bleeds burnt orange. It's also funny to hear Rod do an extended introduction listing all of someone's accomplishments when I'm so used to hearing Jeff Howe do the same for Rod.
  12. That's true, as far as players go. But the coaches are the real question mark. Joseph has been good for recruiting LA and Gideon is...I don't know, a reminder of how good we were back in the day? I have genuine questions about both of them in terms of scheme and skill development. I'd be happy to be wrong, but I think they're the weakest position coaches on the team.
  13. DB Jelani McDonald – Sophomore The versatile secondary member is now firmly in the boat at the safety position which is something I am very much a fan of. McDonald was previously split between linebacker, safety and potentially cornerback when he first arrived in Austin, and now Blake Gideon is in charge of molding him into a big-time ballplayer.
