Now that the panic buzz for 2026 is dying down. Let’s talk about the future. As much as we want 2026 to be our year… we want continued success in the SEC; and that requires dominate trenches. I like where we are recruiting for DL. Early contributors, developmental guys, and depth. For OL.. feels like the last two years we wanted big names and big numbers. I think the community can agree we came up short of those goals despite great players like Turntine. is it a stretch to get 5 this cycle and do we land 2 top 100 guys?

Houston could also pull off a 2 loss conference record.

I was playing around with the big12 record calculator. If BYU were to win today, TTU ends up 7-2 in conference and Utah and ASU were to win out and finish 7-2 in conference… The championship game would be Utah and BYU despite Utah’s head to head loss. The Big12 rules move away from head to head if there is a 3 way tie and changes to opponent record. If BYU were to beat Utah Big12 would certainly only get 2 teams in. Weird scenario, but maybe more possible than BYU being left out of CFP with only 1 regular season and a conference championship loss. That being said, TTU with 2 regular season losses and a conference championship loss also would not get in.

Do we have a comp for him? Seems well rounded but maybe not a pass rush specialist?

It appears we are having our d-line penetrate more this year. With such elite edge rush, I would prefer for them to hold gap integrity better and create a smaller pocket. It is rather irrelevant so far this season, but worries me against teams such as OU, UF, and UGA. with qb's that can buy time by manipulating the pocket. @Jeff Howe Am I crazy for focusing on this?
