Let’s make the playoff first and then worry about whether our seeding/bracket is optimal. Sark spent so much time on the long game (holding dinged players out, lighter practices, etc) that the team never actually really came together for the “now.” He needs to practice what he preaches and recognize that not maximizing now leaves the team less prepared later.

This is probably my biggest problem with Sark. His job is to be the HEAD COACH of the University of Texas and be responsible for ALL aspects of the team. During a game he should be thinking about O, D, and ST, not focusing on which play he should be starting the next offensive series with. I don’t know that bringing in another DC, no matter how good, solves that fundamental issue If Sark is really ALL IN for ‘26 he needs to do himself and the team a favor and get an OC / Play Caller that he can work with and shift his focus to being the best Head Coach that he can be. That doesn’t mean he can’t have input on play design and play calling, it just transfers the primary responsibility of that to someone else so that he can manage the game as a whole.

I was pretty critical of Wingo through most of the season, but he did improve as the season went along. Excluding the first play WR screen bonanza, he still needs to improve his skills as a down the field WR. I’m not sure if he’s going to end up a WR1 or WR2 next season. If I was Sark I would get a WR1 out of the portal and see if Wingo makes it an elite WR room ala Ohio State. Texas could barely field a functional 5-wide this past season. There is PLENTY of room to add more proven talent in that room.

The change in order wasn’t the problem, it was the overall level of play that was a disappointment. If you had graded on a 100 point scale the entire offense would have been a disappointment versus preseason expectations. Yes, a better OL would have helped but the QB spent the first part of the season throwing the ball into the ground, the WR were wildly inconsistent all season, and we couldn’t keep a starting level RB healthy for the life of us.

Didn’t A&M do something to this effect after last season? They didn’t call it resigning, it was something else, but the same idea.

Why stop at athletics? Maybe we could convince the State of Texas to sell The University to private equity so that we wouldn’t have to deal with the legislature’s antics.

This reminds me of when folks were saying to pull X’s scholarship when they saw him on the USC sideline during a bowl game at Jerry World. Shortly thereafter it was noted that he was there with Quinn and another player (JWhit maybe) and all of a sudden it was fine for those other players but some still held a grudge against X. If you look hard enough for a narrative you will find it.

The dude was a true sophomore. Your memories of those guys are in their 4th and 5th years. DTs get better with time. We’ll be better off if he has time to mature here.

Prior to the House settlement NIL was the “Wild West” with effectively uncapped NIL payments. My understanding is that pre-House agreements didn’t apply to the House salary cap. Was that waiver just for the 2025 season or does it apply through the term of the NIL agreement, however long that is?

Should be at 105 like everyone else. That will provide plenty of room for developmental OL and DTs and still leave NIL for portal immediate fixes.

How does an “off the charts” deal even get done at LSU after the shenanigans with the governor re Kelly’s contract? “Sure, we signed a dumb contract for an even dumber contract, but this time it will work out!”

What Sark or CDC says today doesn’t mean sh*t. We won’t know the truth until about 3 weeks after the Super Bowl. I tend to think he’s coming back but if he is he needs to spend some serious time looking in the mirror and commit to fixing the sh*t that’s broken. Part of the issue is not keeping the roster “old.” Sark needs to recognize that the portal fixes problems and HS recruits generally sit on the bench burning NIL year one. Tech brought in 21 players from the portal, A&M 13, and Texas 5. We lost a number of 3rd and 4th year players to the draft and replaced them with HS recruits while the competition is bringing in experienced college starters. Texas completely failed to maximize the pre-House settlement Wild West and has been passed by the teams that did. We could have brought in starting caliber OL, WR, and RB and intentionally decided on only Mosley. You either play to win or get smoked by those that do. Sark needs to decide if he wants to win or play “his” recruits when they aren’t really ready for prime time yet.

Last night reminded me a lot of the Tech game in 2022, but with a much better opponent. Kirby rolled the dice ala Joey and ate Sark’s lunch while we struggled to execute the basics.

Sark’s inner being is set around pass to set up the run (if the pass is successful). He just doesn’t believe in run first and will only go with a run only oriented game plan if we are down to the water boy at QB.

100% agree, just get in. Once you’ve done that the mission is to win them all irrespective of where you play.

I’m sure Tom Herman and Charlie Strong are available for $7m/yr not guaranteed. LSU isn’t getting Kiffin or anyone close if they are going to play this game. Make sure you have plenty of popcorn, this is probably a double feature.

135 out 136 tells you all that you need to know. If you aren’t throwing to your TEs and they aren’t great blockers and you specialize in slow developing down field shots where the defense knows they will have a great chance to get home by blitzing it’s not surprising that the results are subpar.
