Brendan Sorsby to Enter NFL Supplemental Draft

Sorsby abused Tech. They jumped through hula hoops and lost everybody's respect for a player who will never play a single snap for them. Unbelievable. Karmas a what? -

TT acts innocent, but wouldn’t they have done a background check on a player of that value? And he was clean and pure? -

Brendan Sorsby to Enter NFL Supplemental Draft

Very interesting ESPN article about this situation. Many of the assumptions made in this thread are wrong if the article is right. Key points: Up to 8 teams might be interested in drafting him, he was seen as possibly QB2 ahead of Simpson in the 2026 draft, a possible first rounder. Some of those teams could want him as a starter candidate, others with aging QBs might want to groom him as a future starter. I was surprised at how highly he was rated and how many teams might be interested. I doubt he'd make it past the 2nd round in the supplemental draft. How about the gambling? Two examples were given of college guys dinged for gambling who got the opportunity to play in the NFL. This included QB Hunter Dekkers, who lost all eligibility for one $15 bet on his Iowa State team in a game he did not play in. He played a year at a JUCO (not sure if his choice or NFL requirement) and signed "with the Saints as an undrafted free agent, and he spent last season on the practice squad." The other player had around 8,900 bets in college, including 17 on college games, and was not disciplined by the NFL So there apparently would be a path for Sorsby. I know that's not what most want to hear on this thread ... read it for yourself at this link. I was pretty surprised reading the article. -

So what happens if there is no supplemental draft or if he doesn’t get drafted? Does he try out as an UDFA or does he file another lawsuit to regain that last year of eligibility? -
She pitched well against Texas in relief in 1st game of the finals.

I believe that with Kessler withdrawing the lawsuit that sought a temporary injunction on his eligibility, he reverts to being ineligible under the NCAA's original ruling. -

He is withdrawing his lawsuit so that would make him ineligible again -
That helps

If Torres is interested, you don't turn down Torres, she's that good. Last year batted over .500 when she was pitched to, on base percentage of over .600, and on defense I think had 2 errors all of last year at SS. She's elite. If your top of the lineup is: 1. Kayden Henry 2. Isa Torres 3. Vivi Martinez 4. Katie Stewart Then you also have Swan, Nichols, Wells, the other 2 bats TBD. That's fear for a pitcher - combo of speed and power.

So if Sorsby is technically eligible to play this year, how can he goto the supplemental draft? -

He did get some part of $5 million. That's better than most college kids make before they graduate. He does need to follow through with rehab. Does Tech intend to support him with that now? -

Is there any NFL team that takes the risk to add a known gambling addict who bet on his own team? Not so shure. -

Knowing kids of Sorsby's age, I do feel a little bit bad for him - someone in his orbit should have stopped this - his family and friends placing bets for him, the folks at Cincy that probably knew about it, Cody Campbell who apparently did no background check before tossing $5M to him, his agent, et al. et al. -
There's your portal pitcher

? Huh? Lincoln is a pitcher. Isa is not.

Nice addition.

The judge granting the temporary injunction is what set the wheels in motion. When he did, Tech was emboldened and didnt consider the consequences. Truth be told as a competitive person it has happened to me many times where I thought the victory was worth the cost. Frankly the Big 12s lawsuit was the ultimate reality check. A number of people at tech (or Kessler) read the lawsuit and the tea leaves and made an adult decision. in the famous words of Mike Tyson, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” -
if we get Lincoln, would we really need Torres too? Need a big cleanup bat to protect Stewie.

Still think Texas needs to land Torres and an Outfielder.
