  4. Swan graduated and is a grad transfer. But, you’re correct. White has even commented on it and his transfers usually have two years of eligibility left.
  5. Rod Wright would’ve had a longer career after Texas it wasn’t for a bad shoulder. Malcom Brown was a freak athlete at his size. IIRC, @Gerry Hamilton watched Brown beat everybody in a mile run on the first day Brenham started practice Brown’s senior year. The best part about Brown’s recruitment was that A&M, who thought they had him, actually finished third. Brown strongly considered Oklahoma, something that didn’t go public until he put pen to paper. Byron Murphy was another great evaluation by Tom Herman’s recruiting staff. Between Murphy, Jonathon Brooks, Gunnar Helm, Hayden Conner and Barryn Sorrell, that staff identified some future NFL players who weren’t no-brainer takes as recruits.
  6. I feel like Nichols pretty much solidified her spot with her play in the WCWS. If Beachum is only 3rd base that's probably a no go.
  7. How does the Texas requirement that you complete 50% of your coursework at UT to earn a degree affect our ability to recruit juniors? I see Sam Swan is listed as a junior at ASU so if she would lose say 1/3 of her credits transferring to UT she would probably need two more years to graduate, but at other schools more accepting of transfer hours she could graduate in a year. (This was what Sark was referring to when he said you could take just one class at Ole Miss and earn a degree). So seniors could portal in as grad transfers while portal frosh or sophs would potentially keep all or most of their credit hours, but juniors would take a hit, right?
  8. There have been some rumors linking her to Texas and I don’t know why. Yes, she follows a lot of Texas accounts and players, but she also started following Tech and OU softball before her announcement to transfer, too. She’s limited to 3rd base only, by the way.
  9. As Kasey Studdard called it on our Longhorn Blitz 2005 retrospective: “Rod Wright: All Torso!”
  10. Jaysoni Beachum recently followed Texas Softball, Texas Football and Texas Longhorn instagram accounts.
  11. Texas still does things the right way. Same with OU to an extent. Develop your home grown talent first and foremost. Bring in some transfers to compliment. tech just brings in basically a new team every year from the portal.
  12. Ruger. Could see Harrison in a late-inning/stopper situation.
  13. Rod Wright's scoop and score is still one of my all time Red River moments
  14. This is true. I truly believe that Texas/White improves and develops players anyway. Kaiah also started the year off extremely hot, but slumped during SEC play. But she got hot again when Texas needed it.
  15. Rodrique Wright . National champ ring gives him major bonus points
  16. I honestly don’t know the answer to that. She primarily played second base and catcher at Georgetown HS and was signed as a Catcher/Utility player. I know Baylor is very interested in her so it would not surprise me if she ended up there either.
  17. Also let's remember it doesn't have to be a big name with the squad they already have assembled - last year Altmeyer wasn't the big splash transfer name, but she had some key moments in the WCWS.
  18. Today
  19. I don't know her game, does she have the speed for the outfield? Have to assume she's got an arm playing catcher.
  20. Agree on all points. Editor of Softball America:
  21. Fair question and the answer would be no unless she's so good you can't keep her on the bench, however there's going to be sophomore catcher Anne Wallace as well; worst case Kate could catch but they probably want her at 1st base with her athleticism. If Swan's an upgrade over Wallace, they do it. Defensively we're definitely going to miss Atwood's prowess at throwing out runners and pickoffs.
  22. just got back from a cruise and catching up. who gets the ball tonight to start. Ruger or Harrison
  23. Serious question: you want Teagan throwing to a freshman? I don’t. I’d love an experienced catcher while the youngsters learn and grow. Softball America has also said some schools might want Swan to play in the outfield. I don’t know if that’s what Swan wants to do though.
  24. Totally agree. We are better than this. Don’t have to be a homer but we are all want success.
