I see what you're saying, but it's been 2 years not just 1. He also won NCs at JMU when they were DII. He's a heck of a coach, but you absolutely are right that we are going to learn a lot in the next couple of years as he has to replace so much and those players start really getting paid and you have to balance the egos and everything else that goes into it.

Texas offers local Longhorns legacy today | Fri. 2:30 pm
jbseamus83 replied to Hank South's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Love this offer. He may not be the most gifted or talented in an OL room, but the attitude and technique will make him a player. He has a lot of nasty and bully in him. High drive. He also plays with pretty good leverage. He is able to drive defenders and put them on their back because he is getting low as he hits (like a good OL should). He isn't just depending on his natural size or strength to overmatch defenders. He's playing with leverage. This bodes well for him moving forward because he doesn't have to learn it, it's already part of his game. Really like him. - Today

Hard to argue with this list, but I’m kinda souring on DeBoer a bit. He had much more shine pre-bama. But his offenses have not come close to what I expected and there’s a bit of softness in that bama program. Honestly a bit surprising. But I’m not sure how long he lasts there. I don’t see him ever winning it all at bama, and those fans are going to get restless soon.

We've mentioned him plenty the last few weeks. Today 2027 OL Jackson Cook got an offer from the Longhorns on his visit. OTF expects Cook to lock in a late June OV in the coming days. Cook's father is Matt Trissel who played at Texas. Cook's junior tape at Westlake: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/26119436/69385398f761149cbfad0657 (originally played at Lago Vista)

2026 Women's Softball Thread
LonghornFan4Ever replied to LonghornFan4Ever's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Eh that's the way to do it! My setup will allow me to do something similar. Start out with the softball game on the big screen, then switch it to one of my dual screen monitors and put the baseball game on the big screen once it starts. If MBB or WBB were playing tonight, I would have baseball and softball on the monitors and hoops on the big screen. -

When did college basketball hit its peak for you?
Jc Dobbs replied to Jeff Howe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It began with the teams coached by Leon Black, and a buddy of mine had a dog he named Leon. My favorite was the Abe Lemons era. I also enjoyed the years the team was coached by Tom "Sweet Tom" Penders during the "BMW" years when the Horns battled Nolan Richardson's Razorbacks. The Rick Barnes years were also enjoyable at times, like the few years when the team excelled. But my favorite era was Abe Lemons... especially when he called a late timeout with the Longhorns leading and asked Johnny Moore to sit beside him and Abe asked, "Johnny, can you believe this?! We're about to win this damn thing!" Hook 'Em! PS... Where are they now? Larry Robinson, B G Brosterhouse, Sonny what's his name, the Center from Roseburg Oregon who famously rode the Greyhound back to Oregon after the Spring semester (can't remember his name), Brandy Perryman, and several others, like "Easy" Ed the lefty Forward from Ft Worth, Ron Baxter and more. Best wishes and/or RIP to them all. -

When did college basketball hit its peak for you?

Not on a national scale. But there weren't many before either on a national level. Duke/UNC is what got me into college bb big time. Before that it was all NBA and Texas games. -

Apart from Duke/UNC, are there any competitive, must-see rivalries any more? (And even the air has come out of Duke/UNC in my opinion.) -

I would say the whole 2000s is when it really peaked. I remember not being able to miss a DUKE/UNC game during that time, it was as cant miss tv as you could get for CBB. -

Great thread. In my mind, it is hard to argue with the 1980's/1990's, not only in terms of quality, but theatre. The John Thompsons, Jerry Tarkanians, Rollie Massiminos, Lou Carneseccas, and so on, down the line. As a young kid, one of my first competitive games was March 1990, Syracuse-Georgetown in the Dome, wall to wall coverage in the local and national press leading up to it. Alonzo/Dikembe on one side, and Stevie Thompson/Billy Owens/Derrick Coleman/Mike Hopkins on the other. Big John draws three techs in the first half and waives the towel etc. on the way out and up the tunnel. Gosh, and as I look at the box score, Jim Burr officiated. Hard to argue with it, and I've rushed the court before against JJ Reddick's Duke. -

I don't think the issue is the idea itself. All else being equal, the LED floor is awesome. But he knew in advance its actual execution would meaningfully jeopardize player safety and competition quality (ability to trust jumps and cuts, etc) and he knowingly chose the cool idea over player safety and competition quality. That's a fireable offense, IMO. -
