  2. Wouldn’t it be smarter for the athletes to not unionize considering they’re winning every single one of these decisions? That would just make it easier for schools and ncaa to cap them.
  3. Federal legislation that doesn't give the players the right to agree to the terms won't withstand judicial scrutiny. The Supreme Court has basically said that. Colleges don't want players of revenue generating sports to be employees, but they can't get around it as long as they are making money off the players.
  4. In all seriousness this could potentially open the door for us to really close with a bang. Guys like: Davon Benjamin Trenton Henderson Kendal Guervil Jaimeon Winfield Lott Finley Kent Lee Roseborough Greene Simeon We can go back and spend to have the highest payroll in football and not miss out on anyone we really want due to NIL. Obviously we won’t get everyone but there are some on this list that we could potentially circle back to if we wanted because we now have the Collectives and the school budget to spend. Outside of collective deals going through approval this seems more like the flood gates are back open like they have been the last few seasons.
  5. Figured this was coming. Poorly defined, if defined at all, "legitimate business purpose" was a legal landmine waiting to be stepped on. If we want real rules, they're going to need to come from Congress or athletes will need to be made employees with CBAs. Otherwise, it's a litigation field day for us lawyers with the way the SCOTUS ruled against the NCAA.
  6. Essentially the collective can operate just like third parties rather than as originally defined as "affiliated." Still needs CSC approval, but doesn't count against the "cap." I've said more than a dozen times on here that the idea of controlling marketing deals was patently idiotic. First threat of legal action and it goes away. Next will be the CSC itself.
  7. @Bobby Burton, if I understand correctly the “collective” NIL deals aren’t counted against the “ school” cap money nor are they”private business “ deals. Does the “schools” NIL deal need NIL Go Fund and Deloitte approve (I’m thinking ye).
  8. Cody Campbell is still working the Power of the Executive Pen.
  9. Sad situation to watch a good player getting ready to make it out of a bad area just throw it away. Hope he figures his life out.
  10. I'm a big music fan and obviously a big UT Athletics fan. I had never put Black Sabbath & DKR & James Street & '69 Shootout in my mind at the same time until you pointed that out. 🤘🤯
  11. It's a good thing Kirby prioritized relationships over transactions. He runs a wholesome program that values ethics above all.
  12. One of the 10 great rivalries in college football: Minnesota vs Wisconsin. Said no one. Ever. Except someone from the Midwest. 😉
  13. I heard his parents are giving him a timeout.
  14. This is just more of the same. Legal folks said this new rule would be struck down and it already has. I’m guessing the rest will follow suit. Until there is athlete bargaining, this is all just shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic.
  15. Kirby will get him straightened out once he gets to Athens...
  16. Nah he was recruited by Georgia to be a getaway driver.
  17. Today
  18. Just yesterday I read about a young man from Edna Karr HS in New Orleans who signed with Ole Miss and was entering his Freshman season. Sadly he was shot and killed in an incident involving other young people in suburban Memphis - Shelby County TN. Details were sketchy but it seemed as though he was with some people he should not have been with. People who, unlike him, didn't have college football scholarships and potentially bright futures. He was a two-time All State DL for Karr HS.
  19. If I’m not mistaken, we can now use the Cap plus collective money…. As long as we are fundraising and getting collective (plus actual 3rd party business money) money we can pay recruits whatever. We can have the number 1 class every year if we want it plus pay our roster. Thank gawd we are rich (the richest too)
  20. Quentin Jammer assaulting Ladd Monkey‘s release.
  21. Sad tale of events. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
  22. Stay away from too much alcohol and "Just Say No" to drugs. Ozzy's lowest moment.
  23. I mean, it’s not even great power great responsibility - like there are dumb mistakes, but then there is crap like this. This feels like one of the easiest things NOT TO DO.
  24. Every few years, especially in music, an entertainer comes along and changes things. I was a high school student when Black Sabbath hit the rock music scene. They changed the way rock was going in the late 1960s by introducing what the critics called "Heavy Metal" rock. I always thought the generation before mine took Ozzy too seriously. His act was a new schtick. I heard an interview today from 1988 with Geraldo Rivera and Ozzy told Geraldo he was not an evil Satan-worshiping guy. He was an entertainer who grew up poor in England and he always wanted to become successful. He was a failure in school and in early labor-intensive jobs but he loved music and found he had a knack for it. I liked Ozzy and his music but he was not a favorite of mine. I noticed how the kids who were mostly benign misfits found a rock star they could follow and enjoy while giving their parents another thing to worry about. Like Elvis twenty years before. Ozzy broke into music at about the time the Wishbone Offense of Emory Bellard and Darrell Royal revolutionized college football. I'm glad I experienced both. I still like college football and classic rock. RIP Ozzy Osbourne and Coach Bellard and Coach Royal. Hook 'Em!
  25. Texas didn’t make the final push … just to be clear
