My son was a year behind Taaffe in HS. He once told me Michael was the most popular kid at school and they called him The Mayor. There wasn't a single person that could say a bad thing about him. When he decided to walk-on at TX rather than taking a full ride from Rice I remember thinking he was making a mistake that would alter the trajectory of his life and he'd never see the field again until he transferred out.
