  1. Past hour
  2. You guys still had significantly less yardage going into the 4th and couldn’t move the ball on Texas. Both offenses struggled. Where are you getting the Texas is lucky it didn’t lose 21-0 narrative from? Credit to Ohio State but it squeezed out every point it possibly could. It had 2 drives cross the 50 and punched it in on 4th and goal from the one after getting stuffed the 3 previous plays. Ohio State only had 2 opportunities to score points and it did so twice (once because of 2 penalties extending drives). Texas had like 4 opportunities to actually get points and only scored once (one was a drop in the endzone). This isn’t me trying to discredit Ohio State, but your use of “domination” goes both ways as in the defenses dominated the offenses. It was a 14-7 game buddy with Texas at mid field with about 1 min to go. Not sure why it is hard for you to just admit that it was a close game ha.
  3. As far as an identity this year i hope for arch’s sake it is screens, short game, heavy run with play action off of that. As far as an offensive identity here at texas under sark i can’t really come up with anything concrete. I thought about it over the last few days, But it’s a bit worrisome that in the last two years we’re becoming more known for defense under a “offensive guru” head coach.
  4. They knew where it was going, not a great idea at all. Half their D is crashing the line. How many guys is Hutson supposed to block, 3 guys crashing right at him. At least a hand off to Baxter gives him a chance, imo.
  5. This is a bit revisionist and somewhat delusional. Ohio state was essentially losing the yardage battle etc all game. You guys crossed the 50 yard line like twice and penalties significantly aided your first td drive. This game was decided on like 3 or 4 plays that went Ohio State’s way. Mainly coming down to Texas going 0/2 in the redzone and Ohio State going 1 for 1. Acting like Texas was putting up empty calorie garbage time yardage is disingenuous. Acting like this was anything but an ugly hard fought game between 2 relatively even matched teams is delusional. And your other comment about Saying being better than Arch already is way too premature lol. If you know ball, you know one off results and head to head matchups don’t provide full context especially when one QB is on start 3 and another is on start 1 (it was Arch’s first road start in a hostile environment). Using your logic, that would be like me saying Michigan’s QB last year was already better than Will Howard haha. Arch didn’t have a good game. No sugarcoating it. He isn’t automatically a bust now because of it. He will have down games his 1st year starting.
  6. What would you say our offensive identity is under Sarkisian as the play caller? I honestly think we don’t truly have an identity…and this is not just about this game this is his entire tenure here as offensive coordinator.
  7. Hey Jeff. I know Brooks is slated as a T and I'm fine with that but talking about next year's OL (I know, I know lol) would we benefit from putting him at G, assuming T depth is sorted, if Goosby comes back? That way you'd have assumed starters of LT - Goosby, LG - Stroh, C - Cruz, RG - Brooks, RT - Baker. Anyway, just a hypothetical I was thinking about. Good write up, per usual.
  8. Five years ago, we would not have had the players to compete in this game. Credit Sark for recruiting elite talent to put us in position to win. Execution and communication were critical and were unfortunately missing. Go Horns.
  9. Today
  10. And let me just say, when I say Arch was too scripted, it was in the context of a Matt Patricia defense that thoroughly confused him in the first half. In a script you want to see what you are told you will see, IMO he was confused and petrified a little (maybe a lot) when he didn’t see what he expected. All credit to Patricia. This is just a hunch of course, but seems plausible. His mechanics and football play haven’t ever been this bad. There is no pattern or trend for what happened in that first half.
  11. I don’t think we will know anything with success until Florida. He will probably play great and rah, rah, but will we really know how he will handle the swamp against a competent Florida defense? No. (Sorry to the teams we play next, no disrespect). I guess if he plays bad against inferior competition that will be a red flag though. I hope not, Arch is great. Hope he succeeds for sure.
  12. 1. Ohio State 2. LSU 3. Miami 4. Penn State 5. Georgia 6. Texas 7. Oregon 8. Notre Dame 9. Clemson 10. Florida State That would probably by my top ten if I had a vote
  13. Could be worse guys, We could have Jordan Hudson's Grandpa/Boyfriend as our coach
  14. I’m thankful for every win, but Texas is just as lucky they didn’t lose 21-0. I believe Arch had 38 yards entering the 4th quarter. It was complete domination.
  15. well we were that bad last year and it may not really be considering our portal additions. You'd think it'd realize that the punting was much better after game 1 though. What I don't understand is why it didn't punish Ohio State's offense just as much as ours. It must have registered our 4th quarter yards and points as "garbage time", which is a little silly given we had a clear chance to tie the game at the end.
  16. I have a feeling we’ll see each other again
  17. I am fascinated to see how Arch bounces back against SJSU Saturday
  18. Unfortunately there’s been way too many “next times” with sark and goal line play calls. I think his goal line issues are definitely rare contrary to what he wants to believe.
  19. I think the first half was too scripted and Arch had to think too much. He needed to play looser and free like in the 4th quarter. We’ve had 2 other QBs like this, VY and Ehlinger. That had to be felt out. His talents were a little mismanaged. That’s ok, Safk has to feel this new QB out as well. And we are talking about a 1st start on the road in the biggest college football opener in modern history. We expect Manning’s to be perfect . They don’t have to be, they just have to get better. Peyton did. He has the pedigree and work ethic to do just that. We will see.
  20. Nice find (didn’t know those were already published), but how the hell does their model rank our special teams #135?
  21. ^^^ the media and LONGHORN NATION are now on to sark...
  22. Stick around for the season, so we will see.
  23. man talk about delusion. Ohio had 11 1st down and 2 were because of penalties on the UT defense. Ohio st only scores 7 points if Simmons doesn’t get the face mask. Funny you say UT didn’t have open receivers. Most of Arch’s bad passes were to wide open receivers. We were inside the 10 yard line twice and came away with 0 points. Arch missed wingo on a crossing route on the 5 yard line. If he hits him in stride that’s a td. On the pass to Livingston ( where the Ohio st db held him on 4th down) in the corner of the end zone he had a receiver wide open in the middle of the field. Be happy you won. When the other team out gains you by 130 yds and holds the you to a 11 first downs and 200 yards of offense you should be very thankful for a win. When the opposing qb misses open receivers throughout the game you should feel very thankful for the win. When the opposing defense gives you 2 first downs (one on a 3rd down stop) on your only scoring drive of the first half, you should feel very thankful. When your offense only crosses the 50 yrs line twice in the game and you win you should be very thankful for the win.
  24. Curious to get the mods thoughts on the evolution of Sark’s offense. Time will tell, but it feels like in the biggest games we get out-schemed. Almost like Sark doesn’t change things up enough and more so relies on having more talent than the other team. Appears that some defensive-minded coaches have figured out how to prepare for this offense. Will be curious to see how Florida and OU play out.
