There is so much content on this forum, so my apologies if this has been discussed in some way. I am not able to read every post and comment. DISCLAIMER: I know we are 4-1 and in control our own destiny and may be foolish to be so negative. 1) The Arch issue. Gerry wrote an extensive post about Arch that covered every angle. The only thing I will add is that I don't recommend benching Arch. I would only recommend let him use all of his tools (his running ability) like every other college program does and call plays that take advantage of Arch's speed and power-the dude is tough and good sizee. Now, if that is an issue with the Manning family and Arch himself, that is a different scenario that would justify putting somebody in that can run. It is now self-preservation and Texas needs to be able to have the QB running option. I mean, hell, he did it 2 years ago against aggy and it worked beautifully for a TD. 2) Sark the HC has two obstacles: The irony how Vegetables flipped the weight of the world to Sark and temporarily freed himself from it. Obstacle 1: Sark the OC. Had he made the move to hire an OC on his own, the spotlight and the pressure cooker wouldn't be anywhere near the level it is since Saturday. That pressure is here to stay and will only get heavier and heavier. It is never good when a HC is forced to make a change not of his own doing-quite frankly it seems to be the beginning of the end of the HC tenure in most cases. Additionally, what kind of OC could possible come to Texas knowing Sark was against the decision and knowing he may be butting heads and worried about a turf war at every turn? Sark would have to humble himself and think about his future. Really, if he fails here, he will be damaged goods as an OC and as a HC-college or NFL. Yes he has an great win loss record the last 4 years, but that is with the wealth of resources from Texas. The main reason for the record is elite defenses-not his high scoring innovative offensive schemes. At other schools or the NFL he will not have the talent advantage he currently enjoys. Obstacle 2: Sark's buddies. People may ask did Banks/Flood forget how to coach? The were great at bama. Well, they had the GOAT as a HC that held his assistants accountable. Sark thought he was getting the guys under Saban, but apparently Saban gets more out of them. How do other schools make their OL work? They haven't had the recruiting advantage Flood has at Texas. Is it incredibly bad luck that the top recruits that signed at Texas are busts? CJ nailed the special teams issues, so I won't regurgitate. But, I will remind you of the horrible outing at UT2, was more of the same against blowU. It is laughable at how we got more of the same. The very first kick-off goes out of bounds. This obstacle is not as complicated as firing the OC, but the fact that you are being forced to do it is not a good look. It is difficult to respect a HC that doesn't deal with the obvious problem himself. I mean does he think he has multiple years to fix these issues? For all I know (which isn't a lot), Flood is not the problem as much as what he is asked to do in Sark's complicated scheme. This would make some sense, because now you have Arch and Flood scratching their heads after each practice at what there scheme/identity is supposed to be. 3) I really like Sark, but we all saw it coming in one way or the other-it was simply unsustainable to have such a under performing offense. It should be embarrassing how much BMDs payout for these athletes and get such an underperformance. To make matters worse and something we have to reconcile is the crap about not apologizing for a win. Well, the reason the media and fans were making a bid deal about is because it is a big deal. We saw the unsustainability with our own eyes and knew it would bite us at some point. But, he blew us off and gave us his non-apology. I don't see what can be improved when Sark himself doesn't really have a plan. I really believe that he doesn't know how to fix STs and the offense. CJ make a great point about "doing the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity" in Sunday morining's video and it applies perfectly in the current state of affairs at Texas. 4) Still no answer for the constant blitzing Arch gets. Will it be a free for all SEC head coaches to look like geniuses by simply blitzing the hell out of Texas because we still look lost and get shut down. Sark has given us no hope of dealing successfully with out opponent's blue print.

Roughing the passer call after a lateral ...
Alex Butler replied to Michael Chasnoff's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It was a terrible call. Technically right by the letter of the rule but the hit wasn’t egregious and part of the rule is if the player can adjust. In this case Biles hit his helmet with his shoulder pad. Should’ve been a no call in my biased opinion. I guarantee if they hadn’t called it no one person would’ve said a thing about a missed call. The frustrating thing is that they missed several hits to the head on catch when he was throwing one in particular on a completion to Coleman that was clear and wasn’t called. That would’ve changed the game and we probably win the game on that int. However, we still can’t give them 7 point on a blocked punt and 10 additions after that play off INTs. -

It will be better but his issues are still issues even against bad defenses. He didn't play that well and threw 50% completion rate against UTSA (120 ranked). He'll have a few more good drives but we'll still see a fair share of 3 and outs. If he just throws to whoever McClain is defending this week, Arch will look like a Heisman candidate. 😄 -

I don’t understand, Sark’s obsession is explosive plays, yet he’s fixated on 12 personnel which puts 2 lack luster tight ends (in terms of explosiveness) on the field, and it clearly DOESNT WORK. -

OTF Premium Thoughts on the ugly loss
ChanmanV replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
In regards to the playoff committee, this loss will hurt us like the Florida one did last year. OU is not a good team and will rack up more losses. If we have 3 losses we will be in a similar dilemma we were in last year because the committee has shown they only care about how many losses you have and who you lost to. They don't care who you've beaten. I hope they understand that and the urgency is at code red. - Today

I agree with you on all of that. Let’s see if sark takes that route this weekend. I’m hoping for it but not sure if he will. -
The Longhorns offense is historically bad. Shocking stats

Can you imagine if the stats factored in 1) talent level and 2) NIL$? I would imagine we'd be deade last. -
Decrease in Pre Snap Motion/Movement
Hornio replied to camridleyfan's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It’s not just motion though. It’s what all this complexity does to our quarterback who clearly has processing issues. Sark needs to recognize his QB isn’t able to play the system he wants and make it all much simpler -

By the way, it's unsustainable to run every single play out of 10 personnel, there has to be variations and different personnel packages. But that doesn't mean there can't be more of it. Especially considered 12 personnel produced 50 yards on 17 snaps for a 2.94 average. Only one of those 17 snaps in 12P gained 7 or more yards. It went for 15 to Emmett Mosley V on the pass he juggled on the sidelines. -

SpurHorn replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I thought we had some good runs out of 11 personnel with the TE flexed out. 10 personnel and simple spread concepts is the clear answer for arch and this offense. So much quicker and easier to diagnose pre snap. Find the leverage. Get the ball to the WR and let him make a play. Also 10 personnel will lighten up the boxes which can make arch’s legs even more lethal. Sark needs to abandon his philosophy of not wanting the QB to run as well and intentionally tell arch to run it whenever he wants to. You can see arch gets paralyzed in the pocket at times when he wants to run but intentionally tries not to in order to appease Sark. Hence the 3 beyond the line of scrimmage passes this season. The answer is pretty glaring at this point: 10 and 11 personnel and simple spread concepts. 10P also gets bishop on the field who might be our most dynamic player on the roster. Does sark have the humility to change the identity of his beloved pro style scheme? We’ll see. -

Would like to use Arch in that as a runner too. Definitely adds difficulty if they have to spy him which devotes one less defender. I’m very frustrated why we’re not attacking the middle if the field and linebackers more this year especially with these blitzes?! -

I truly don’t know what is worse, that every person can see that this team is not only built to work mostly out of 10p or that every time we do run it, it produces our biggest plays and our HC refuses to run it until we have to (hence the 4th quarter drive to bishop). Even as a fan at the game, every time they set up in spread, just as an eye test look so much better for a run play. I’m starting to let my mind run and think he’s trying to force a pro style offense to get NFL looks because no way someone can be this ignorant -

“Going off balance”….it’s the same thing I was saying about his body being fundamentally sound and him making a compact throw instead of flailing. Gerry, neither of us are QB gurus or have coached of QBs. I got this from Matt Sims who broke down the good throws by Arch and the 2 interceptions. -

CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
In theory there should be lighter boxes given spacing in the formation. But that requires the OL to win a lot of 1v1 battles. We will see a lot of teams blitz in 10P imo, especially given the somewhat dismissal of hot/check routes when defenses show pressure in pre-snap. -
