  1. Past hour
  2. It should be. Would be the second inexcusable loss in a row
  3. Every sport goes through this over time and fans all have the same issue, concern, and complaint with expanding the post season field. Yet, every single time history has proven the opposite. The latest example was the expansion of how many teams get into a much more difficult and exclusive championship tournament...The World Cup. In fact it blew those concerns out the water. It was more watched, attended, and just as, or even more exciting. Made way more money for cities, teams, and the sport itself. Maybe I'm wrong but don't think so. I truly believe it will be great. Yes, just like all change. It will have sone farts doing it's journey, but us fans, conferences, etc will eat this up like always. Someone will always miss out, be left out. If I understand correctly the verbiage will include the requirement of teams including a power 4 non-conference opponent in the schedule. Preserving the viewing enjoyment of high level, ranked vs ranked early season match-ups like we had between Texas vs Ohio State. It will be different. Change always is. The conference game will be missed to a point. Conference champions will be crowned based on their respective conference records. The money will surpass what was made in those conference championship games. More specifically for universities that host playoff games. Cities will see a much more greater return in investment from those playoff games than what was divided up amongst conference members and lets be honest. I highly doubt that money made it out very far within most universities or stakeholders that made any significant difference. Again, most wanted expansion. Well we are getting it. Be carefull what you wish for. Lol! Not many of us saw a 24 team playoff when we all demanded it. Lol. But inclusion has proven to be great over exclusion according to history.
  4. These guys always come up with a bunch of crazy, high end lottery picks. They're trying to guess who is going to hit big, but it's a fruitless exercise.
  5. Won’t be a popular take and I get why people don’t like it. That being said I’ve been around FCS football for a while. They’ve had 24 teams no conference title games as long as I’ve been close to NDSU. FBS is different level of football don’t get me wrong. I think 24 teams will actually result in better non conference games as one or 2 losses doesn’t kill you. Just my two cents.
  6. ~^~ 🏈 TEXAS * LONGHORNS 🏈 ~^~ 31 to 10 floor ida gators. Hook'em! 🤘 🤠 🇨🇱
  7. The only for sure prediction is a very large percentage of Texas fans will find many things to complain and moan about. Texas 13 Florida 10
  8. Today
  9. Texas 27 Florida 17 ...our trend continues of breaking hearts in Vegas (TX -11.5 this morning)
  10. Stein wins against LSU and is suddenly a program builder? Sark has built this program from the ashes while going into the SEC. Let’s not act like a couple wins is a flash in the pan. Sark has this program in contention each year to go to the playoff and win the natty.
  11. Texas expectations: 4-team playoff: Make the playoffs. 12-team playoff: Year 6, just make the playoffs? 24-team playoff: Just make the playoffs? At Texas, the expectation should be the Final Four.
  12. Yes that would help with scheduling of better non-conference games, but do you really want a playoff with the big, sec, ACC and big 12 champs? I think you generate a lot more interesting non-conf games with a wider playoff format. There is no perfect system at the end of the day. Personally I think a 16 team format would be best, but not a fan of a non-p4 school getting as they have no chance of winning it all. I agree with the poster who suggested we move to a selection criteria where SOS is factored in.
  13. Yep agreed, look at what happened when ATM forced Jimbo to hire an OC. Unless Sark comes to the conclusion on his own and it's his decision, that's just another disaster waiting to happen.
  14. Hopefully Florida helps gain some confidence back. They have talent, but defensively they have been out of position far too often compared to other competitive defenses Texas has played this year.
  15. Texas 48 Florida 13 Hookem 🤘
  16. Texas 30 Florida 13 hookem 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
  17. Agree, can’t be forced. He has to evaluate it and come up with the right decision.
  18. This is the realist post majority of Texas fans keep thinking we will eventually flip a switch
  19. Kyle Flood ass level of consistency. Do better or get out!!!!
  20. Texas Longhorns- 17 Florida Gators- 16
  21. Better? Who cares about better? Better than Strong? That's a really low bar. Mack Brown would have extended the mediocrity he'd already exhibited starting in 2010. I actually predicted that's where we were headed because he got lazy on the recruiting trail. Saban had established the blueprint for how to recruit. 7on7 coaches and various trainers started having a bigger impact on high school players. Mack refused to let his assistants travel outside the immediate Austin area during the season. He wouldn't even give gas money to high school coaches to bring their players to Austin. He wouldn't move his recruiting window up because he didn't feel like high school players should face any recruiting pressure before their junior year was finished. At the time I was going out to see a lot of high school games, and it was obvious our incoming talent was not up to snuff. In addition, he became scared of quarterback recruiting, making ludicrous promises to Garrett Gilbert's Dad about not recruiting over his son. I tried to tell people early we were about to hit a bad spell, but people shouted me down, told me to relax and enjoy the good times - because 2008 and 2009 were admittedly good. Better to pull the rip cord and start with a new regime. There's no such thing as a sure thing with new head coach hirings (unless you're Ohio State) but better to try to achieve excellence than to put up with mediocrity. The hiring process was terrible, but then except for Mack Brown and Steve Sarkisian, the hiring process has always been terrible. It was certainly terrible for Charlie Strong and Tom Herman, that's for sure, but it was terrible for Fred Akers, David McWilliams, and John Mackovic as well, so par for the course. As long as Eltife is the Chairman of the Board of Regents we should be good for the next one, but if Hinojosa somehow wins the governor position and starts filling the Board of Regents with people either indifferent or antagonistic to Texas football, we'll have some issues. Not to advocate who people should vote for. Just that's the reality. I don't think the governor position should make as big of an impact on the fortunes of Texas football as it does, but it matters who is on the Board of Regents. Especially when there's a coaching change. That said, it's possible to hire a hall of famer even when the hiring process is borked. Not likely, but it happens. Pete Carroll is probably my favorite example. None of this informs where we are with Steve Sarkisian right now. We'll have to see how the season plays out.
  22. You could say the same with basketball but yet March madness is the premier tourney in sports.
