I just don't see what Caldwell gets us that we can't get from Lacey. Unless we really think Caldwell is capable of an SECCG / CFP run, if Arch is out you're basically building for 2026.

RB CJ Baxter OUT vs. Sam Houston State

I don’t doubt that this team can beat SHSt without Wisner and Baxter, but this team has zero offensive continuity. They may end up being physically ready for UF and OU but they aren’t likely to be ready to execute on the offensive side of the ball. Sark is playing with fire. -

I just rewatched the game again. It not as bad as I thought initially. Yes, there were some bad throws. I do think Arch is pressing. He is also throwing the ball very hard. If you ever played QB trying to throw the ball extra hard causes the ball to come out erratic. He does have happy feet some as well. I also think he is throwing to a spot on the field and maybe throwing a little early causing the ball to be wide. We also had some decent 5-8 yard runs on 1st down but then our O-Line let us down on 2nd and 3rd yard runs. Sark could call better plays. Looks like he is only calling power run plays and not any miss direction or pulling runs. I think most of this is easy fixable items. Arch does need to have fun out there as well. Just my two cents. -
I’d take a page from Nick Saban from a few years ago. Split the quarters of Manning and Caldwell at this point. Give manning a very short leash and if he’s the same then pull him and split the quarters with Caldwell and Lacey. SHSU is really bad, there is absolutely zero reason for anyone to struggle vs them

What is the contingency plan?

Contingency plan should be have Caldwell drive the bus. -

The only logical thing that makes sense is Sark and Milwee coached whatever he had out of him. You see it with his motion. And when it comes to taking off you can tell it’s been engrained to not do so unless you must. He’s playing indecisive and I blame coaching. -

Arch started games last year, and played in others. I refuse to believe what we're watching is because "he's the man now", or whatever. I don't think that would cause him to forget how to throw a football and I don't think he's that mentally weak anyway. -
At this point the coaches have to be parallel pathing a plan in case this is just not an in-season fix with Arch. IMO you keep working with him through this weekend but at some point the team and the season goals are the priority. So what’s the contingency if he lays another egg this weekend or in Gainesville? Mine would be to work KJ into the gameplan starting this weekend. Give him a few series in the 2nd and the 4th. See how he does under the lights. Then spend the entire two weeks prior to Florida giving them something extra to game plan for, and maybe continue to use Lacey as a change of pace to come in for Arch. If the wheels do eventually fall off for Arch this season, at least we’re getting some critical experience for KJ. Thoughts? @CJ Vogel @Bobby Burton @Jeff Howe @Gerry Hamilton

Michigan State commit to visit Texas this weekend Michigan State linebacker commit Braylon Hodge (Denver/Cherry Creek) was offered by Texas last Wednesday, and will quickly visit the Longhorns. Hodge tells OnTexasFootball that he will be making an unofficial visit this weekend for the Sam Houston State game. The 6-3, 215-pounder is likely to make a November official visit, assuming things move forward with both parties after this weekend. Michigan joined Texas in offering last week.

I'm not loyal to anyone except winning. And I'll opine and give analysis if I want. And don’t worry the tailgate is always fun. -

Georgia Tech OL is better than Texas OL though - Today

Texas will start the season in the others receiving votes category IMO From what I'm hearing, I do think the Horns have chance to be top 25 team this season.

Your loyalty is admirable , delusional at times but aren't we all. Time will tell if Arch gets sat down awhile, it won't ruin him if he is the competitor we think he is etc. Good to see you chime in finally since you been AWOL from IT since this pathetic excuse for an offense Sat 🤣🤣. Just work on those tailgates and leave the analysis to others for real!! -
That sucks. Best of luck, Vernon!

RB CJ Baxter OUT vs. Sam Houston State
CJ Vogel replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I would expect Wisner and Moore back for Florida. I think Sark and Texas believe they can win these games without their key guys who are battling injuries, and they are right. On top of that, I think they are hoping to get the young TEs up to speed and looks at Simon + the WR room. -

Give me James Simon at RB1 this weekend. Dude can be a real weapon. Even if C4 doesn’t get 100% we can still have a 1-2 punch with Wisner and Simon -

Last year RBs stuff was popping, this year just straining, so that’s an improvement I guess. -
We don't have a RB issue. We have a new OL issue. Right now, teams are dropping safeties to contain Arch and we still can't run. If Arch continues to struggle, then it'll get even harder to run. We just need this OL to gel.
