OL, OL, OL. Our OL is and has been a complete disgrace. We did have Banks and Cam Williams, but the only reason we got those two was because Cristobal took off for Miami last minute. Goolsby was a diamond in the rough 3 star guy that everyone missed. Us and A&M were his only 2 big offers. Without a functioning OL, all the weapons we have will continue to go to complete waste.

Yeah, I agree, but the end result, if we ever get there, actually benefits the program and other players as a whole. It’s just a high ceiling low floor situation.

Helluva decision on UT though, innit? Arch will continue to improve. I think that's a safe assumption. Are we ready to relinquish him just as he's getting better? Are we sure a handcuffed Arch isn't still better than Kacey or Bell? I mean, he sat for 2 years. Last year he ran on occasions, with success mind you. But this year, you can just tell he's making an effort to NOT take off and run. Sark even said he wishes Arch would run more. So what it is? Whos' really making this call here?

I don't really watch the NFL, so don't know the answer, but does the NFL run much spread? My impression is that there's a mandate from the Manning camp to develop Arch into a prototypical drop back NFL QB, and Sark is doing just that, shoving post graduate level workload onto a gifted college kid. I do believe Arch can do real damage at the college level by incorporating more a spread offense and running more, but that's not the deal with the Mannings.

I think the biggest question in '27 is if the Manning camp decides Arch needs another year in college. Where does he play and what's Texas' preferred position? Manning: I think they still believe in Sark as the QB developer but I can see them demanding improved OL play. I can see Miami being in play for this reason, because Cristobal has proven himself as the premiere OL coach. Malachi Toney should also have another year. It comes down of if the Manning family can lower themselves to set foot in a skank school like Miami. I can also see Georgia since they always have a solid line, and it's still a premier SEC powerhouse. Texas: I think Texas would be nuts to not welcome Arch back. He has the tools, and you would expect him to develop mentally as a QB. His problem is that he's slow in dissecting the defense. Time, reps, and classroom should continue to accelerate that development. We'll hear things like "game has really slowed down for Arch". I also have zero confidence in Lacey yet. No clue how Bell is faring . I'm sure they're all physically ready, but are they mentally and emotionally ready to play QB at Texas. Nobody knows, but I can't imagine either would be more developed than a 5th year Arch.

In the portal era, there's no rebuild. You just go buy good players off another team and hope they'll play together. Also, where's Brandon Baker going?

Meaning the staff views penalties as a necessary evil for the players to play free and uninhibited? How many drive extending personal fouls or excessive celebrations would be deemed too much? Juice Cryer is becoming one of my favorite players on this team, but even hi ran straight for Bevo after his interception to celebrate. It's a judgement call if that was too much or not, but why even risk it? We were luck as shxt to only get a sideline warning on that play.

BTW, I'm willing to bet large sums of $$ that barring a serious injury, any year Arch decides to declare himself for the NFL draft, he will be a first round pick, Not saying his production in Austin warrants this selection, but the raw talent alone will get him there. Dillon Mitchell in basketball is a comp, a bad comp, but still a comp. He was a useless player for us/Cincy/St Johns, but his raw athletic talent got him drafted, and he made the Celtics. Imagine if he had the family pedigree?

Because of our propensity to point out areas where we continue to shoot ourselves in the face week in and out? BTW, I would venture to guess that there's a faction, perhaps even a large faction of fans here where where Texas football is for the most part a joyless experience. It's much better now that we're in the SEC, but still largely an exercise between pain and temporary relief between the agony of defeat. Maybe you'll get there one day, maybe not. Again, OP was only pointing out team's recurring problems on a MESSAGE BOARD. He didn't show up to your house demanding beers and bbq while unloading this thoughts in your living room.

I dont see any cynicism in OP's post. Those were fact based observations. He wasn't calling out random "what if" faults like, what if Spectic started missing PATs? No, we are among the most penalized teams in college football.

If Banks and Flood are truly great recruiters, then keep them on, but hire real coaches as "analysts" or whatever we want to call them to do the teaching. A few years ago, we had Joe DeCammilas, a 20 year NFL ST coach on the team, and our ST was magically stout. Do more of that!!
