  2. Joel Klatt. Na-na-na-na-na. Joel Klatt.
  3. I need Ramonce Taylor on my flag football team. I think Quan Cosby at his athletic peak would kill it as a two-way player.
  4. I agree with Blake. The power will be there, and so will the strikeouts, which means the walks need to be there for Ivan to keep ascending to the show.

  6. I like your list on defense but I would have VY at qb,
  7. Of the sports pundits covering college football, i trust Klatt more than most of the others. His analysis is reason based as opposed to narrative based. Most of his takes are either correct or reasonably correct based on available information.
  8. Hard not to look ahead at 2026, thinking about a defensive line with Colin Simmons, Lance Jackson, Justus Terry, Maraad Watson, Alex January, Josiah Sharma, Myron Charles. Those are some freaky large humans with awesome athleticism. Looking like Bama and Georgia when they were on their natty runs a few years back. Hope Justus Terry and Lance Jackson are able to make big contributions this season to complement Simmons on the other side.
  9. I am a big Ivan fan and hope he can tweak some things enough to keep progressing. Making the transition and moving up to the big leagues is extremely difficult, even for very good college players. His hitting, especially power, has carried him, but he had too many Ks in college and does not seem to have improved that too much in the pros. To get to the bigs he probably needs to improve on at least one of those. As Blake mentioned, it probably won't be his D that helps him. I worry about our current players for the same reasons. If you can't hit a curve and always chase them you are doomed. A little bit of power and a bad batting average won't get you far unless you are excellent in the field- and that partially depends on the position. Even if you can hit for a reasonable or good average, without some power or an excellent glove and arm for the right position or really good speed it still can be hard to make it.
  10. I think there is a real chance worthy is on the team in 2028. Time line works out and his speed is a match up nightmare
  11. Is he the one that looked a bit like that in 8th grade? I remember seeing a post awhile back with an 8th grade pic of one of the new guys and he looked like a senior in high school.
  12. Lot of freaks in the 2025 class IMO.
  13. Similar in our home. My youngest son is a basketball junkie. NBA and College, especially the Horns. We’re still in shock from the Luka trade but maybe this #1 pick for the Mavs to get Cooper Flagg will get the team back on track, Back to CC, he wanted her jersey last season and now we look forward to watching Fever games in the summer. Crazy. Impressive what she’s done for the sport and league.
  14. Definitely DJ at lb. Also would like all the guys with Olympic speed in there somewhere. Worthy, Charles and Goodwin. Pair that with big frame Roy and route running technician Shipley along with Colt and that is an offense. Would like Finley as TE but in a few years guys like Arch, Wingo and Townsend could be some great candidates too for offense.
  15. Born in 2000: QB: McCoy RB: Bijan WR: Jordan Shipley WR: Roy Williams WR: Worthy TE: Helm RB alt: J Charles WR alt: Duvernay MLB: DJ STAR: Diggs STAR: Vasher S: E Thomas S: M Huff CB: Aaron Ross CB: Barron
  16. Final Box Score for Kavan: 5.2 IP, 7K, 5H, 0R, 1BB Incredible game last night. So much fight in our team to not give up and keep grinding. Kavan was most impressive in the bottom of the 8th when Clemson had Pipkins on 2nd and Collins on 3rd with no outs. All Clemson needed was to get Collins across home plate and our season was over. Kavan got the next 3 batters (Johnson, Brockenbrough and Brown) all out on 12 pitches. Then in the the bottom of the 9th for an encore, Kavan gave up 1 hit and she got 3 strikeouts (all 3 swinging) to shut the Tigers down. Bottom of the 10th with 2 run lead, Kavan put it away. Will make for an awesome comeback if the Lady Longhorns can pull off the W today. Thinking about what a killer it was last fall when we lost our all-American shortstop (Vivi Martinez) to injury. That’s really hard to overcome. This year’s team may not be quite as dominant as the #1 seed Horns Team last season, but they’ve got grit and fight. Atwood, Scott, Kavan are our 3 all-Americans on the team but Mitchell, Maloney and Goode were extremely clutch last night with 7 hits and 5 RBIs. Overall, our Longhorns had 13 Hits, 7 Runs and only 3 Strikeouts. Again, great win, clutch performance. Let’s go get the series win today and see what happens in the World Series. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼
  17. Today
  18. I like the lust, but you have to find a place for Ramonce Taylor on Offense and Derek Johnson on Defense. Also, put VY at TE and you have a mismatch everytime and he could take some snaps at QB for a change of pace.
  19. saw this the other day and this thread reminded me… https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/five-college-players-with-a-shot-to-make-historic-first-us-flag-football-team-at-2028-olympics-in-los-angeles/ One Longhorn mentioned in this article from CBS Sports.
  20. ICYMI: The announcement that inspired the post.
  21. There has been a hot topic in the NFL world in regards to the 2028 Summer Olympics which will include Flag Football for the first time in the history of the Olympiad. Of course, the overwhelming consensus is that the United States will be the heavy favorite when it is time for competition. However, I want to look at it with burnt orange glasses on. Build your dream flag football (7 on 7) roster using Longhorns you've watched over your lifetime. I was going to put a timeframe on this one but I think the conversation will be more fun with limitless options. I'll drop my roster here: *** Offense QB: Colt McCoy RB: Bijan Robinson WR: Xavier Worthy WR: Jordan Shipley WR: Roy Williams TE: Gunnar Helm RB Alternate: Jamaal Charles WR Alternate: Matthew Golden Should be some fun conversations about tight end with Helm, Ja'Tavion Sanders, Jermichael Finley all earning some looks. Wide receiver is very much the same. Who gives Limas Sweed and Quan Cosby some love on their rosters? Defense For defense, go with a combination of a middle linebacker and two STARs (nickels), or two linebackers and one STAR. That is up to you and how you choose to construct your defense. MLB: DeMarvion Overshown STAR: Quandre Diggs STAR: Jahdae Barron S: Earl Thomas S: Andrew Mukuba CB: Quentin Jammer CB: Aaron Ross The defensive side of the ball allows for much more roster flexibility. So many different combinations. I opted for ballhawks across the board and specifically near the football with Diggs and Barron playing the middle of the field in the second level. The range of Earl Thomas and Andrew Mukuba in the backend ensure that no one is beating me deep as well.
  22. Not a big DL fan, but gonna have to check this out. Thanks for heads up. As for Caitlin Clark, she’s obviously taken the WNBA to new heights. My middle son is a prime example of this. He’s eaten up with basketball. He plays year round, watches both college and the NBA, but has never had interest in the WNBA at all. He doesn’t even watch NCAA WBB. However, he now watches CC and also has multiple shirts of hers as well. That has led to interest in other players and teams something that would have NEVER happened before CC. He’s also now a big Aaliyah Chavez fan after going with me everywhere to cover her.
  23. Love your optimism and hope you’re right regardless of what I anticipate.
  24. What sre the dates of osu game?
