You love big humans so long as they’re athletic. You can’t be a big human and not athletic. Nastiness I believe is something that can be coached into and out of players. That ability to coach into and out of is 90% on the coaching staff and 10% on the player. Yay, made up statistics but the overall point is that if you coach a rough hard nose program that will be the results you get and the players who don’t buy into it will weed themselves out(you’re hoping that it’s the smaller portion of your recruits). -

UF and UT are very comparable academically. Not really. US News' rankings are not simple ACADEMIC rankings and neither is Niche's. Academically UT has more top thirty programs than anyone but Berkeley or Michigan - more than even UCLA and Virginia and Wiscy. Texas has the 14th strongest faculty in America, and that includes the Ivies and the national elite private schools. Florida is not even close. US News does do straight academic ratings it calls peer rating, business rating, and engineering rating, on a 5 point scale. Texas rates above 4 in all three, Florida in none. And as for McCombs and Cockrell? From USNews: McCombs Undergraduate Program Rankings #6 Overall #2 Accounting U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #2 Entrepreneurship Princeton Review/Entrepreneur Magazine 11/ 24 #3 Marketing U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #5 Finance U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #6 Management U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #6 Entrepreneurship U.S. News & World Report 09/ 24 #6 Business Analytics U.S. News & World Report 09/ 24 #6 Insurance U.S. News & World Report 09/ 24 #7 Management Information Systems U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #7 Production / Operations Management U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #8 Real Estate U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #9 Quantitative Analysis U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #10 Supply Chain Management / Logistics U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 #15 International Business U.S. News & World Report 09/ 25 Cockrell Undergraduate Program Rankings #11 Overall #2 Petroleum Engineering #5 Chemical Engineering #5 Civil Engineering #6 Environmental Engineering #8 Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering #8 Computer Engineering #9 Electrical/Electronic/Communications Engineering #10 Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering #11 Mechanical Engineering U.S. News & World Report 2025-2026 Undergraduate School Rankings More than 300 accredited engineering schools exist nationwide. Florida isn't close. I have twin granddaughters hoping to get into the B School and the Engineering School, respectively. They are great students, but being accepted at UT does not equate to being accepted to McCombs or Cockrell. -

Definitely. I’m not sure if it is a big human or not thing as much as a fit within the scheme and culture problem. Brooks is massive and could be a great player for us. Agree Turntine is the gem of the OL class this year but if we had gotten a Cantwell, a massive human, I don’t think it would be a mistake. -

That loss to the Thunder on Tuesday was a heartbreaker. But I was on the edge of my seat the entire game. If Sengun and Amen (I highly doubt Amen is gonna shoot that bad from 3 consistently) continue to play at that level throughout the season, it'll be very interesting to see how aggressive Rafael Stone and the Front Office is for the trade deadline/buyout deadline. -

I wonder what Wilt Chamberlain would be like in today’s game. I think he may be the closest comp to Wemby ever, but be was shorter, and much stronger. -

Purely coincidence that this drops the night after the NBA opens a new season, right? No one is talking about Wemby's great game or VJ Edgecombe scoring the most points for a rookie in his opener since Wilt Chamberlain or ... -

Pitino coached him and Damon Jones in Boston and Rozier at Louisville. Pitino is probably involved is my first instinct. -

Dan Neil had a piece on another site and just layed it out perfectly. Texas insistence on “large humans” has been mostly a failure. I realize Dan was undersized and nasty and that is exactly who he says are the type of players Texas needs to pivot to at least at center and guard. He says it won’t get fixed this year and the scheme they ran vs OU should be the gameplan in every game and was incredulous why they didn’t use it vs UK. I realize it’s been said in so many words on here and elsewhere but Dan knows ball and lived it.

Billups, Rozier and guard Damon Jones who was also arrested all played for Rick Pitino. It was pretty interesting when Rick benched RJ Luis during the tournament game they lost last year. Gambling has been an obvious problem in sports for a long time. Ali/Liston 2 having to be fought in Lewisville, Maine was due to concerns about the integrity of the fight then we saw Liston take the dive. There was a receiver for Texas about 10-15 years ago that I'm convinced to this day was on the take in multiple games and even afterwards when he transferred to Arizona I saw him sell multiple times. I have no proof and that's the scary part. Who controls the accountability? Most of them are in on it too, the factions of deep protection. -
