  2. Insightful article, thanks Gerry. I follow OSU as my mom got her graduate degrees, my brother wrestled there, and I went to high school in NE OK. I found it particularly interesting the low number of players that transferred out to other power 4 schools. Shows how the talent level had fallen there.
  3. 1. Ohio State 2. Texas ... Longhorns play 8 teams ranked in this top 25 https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-rankings-cbs-sports-136-post-spring-ohio-state-texas/

  5. Don't think either are defined at this point. Ramsier has worked more at center
  6. Schloss is also in favor of pushing the start of the season back to March. He also wants to look at changing the postseason format to two additional best 2-out-of-3 series instead of the four-team, double elimination regional so that it mimics the regular season.
  7. Aka he just watched Tennessee and Mississippi State average 15 meaningless pick off attempts per game.
  8. With the MLB labor situation looming, Schloss said college baseball decision makers need to focus on making the game as viewer friendly as possible. That includes implementing rule changes that can speed up the game.
  9. On Ruger Riojas, Schloss said it adds a lot to the program to have someone in the transfer portal era who loves Texas has much as Ruger does.
  10. Carson Tinney had some good swings in Knoxville, Schloss said. He’s not worried about Tinney having an off weekend.

  12. Schloss said Temo Becerra has made some swing changes lately. His aucccess though, Schloss said, has a lot to do with not over swinging and going back to being a contact hitter first and foremost.
  13. Schloss and Max Weiner pushed Haiden Leffew on Sunday because they wanted to get a look at him in that role and the series unfolded in such à way that it made sense.
  14. Schloss said they might audition a fourth starter next week. If one doesn’t emerge, the role of the fourth starter will be matchup dependent.
  15. Schloss likes where the Longhorns are at with Burns, Cozart, Crossland and Leffew.
  16. Schloss doesn’t know who will start at second base as of right now. Gumbo, Becerra and Early are all under consideration.
  17. If the team wants to get to Omaha, their habits and work needs to reflect that. ”If not,” he said, “then shame on you.”
  18. Schloss said the players are having to push through a lot right now, but… ”You want to be a pro player? Well, here it is, buddy,” he said.
  19. Sweet! He is quickly becoming an all-time Texans great.
  20. Schloss: “Most soft tissue injuries are somebody’s fault.” Unfortunately, Texas isn’t dealing with a ton of those, which makes it tougher to explain some of the ailments.
  21. I was a long-time collector cards of all things Houston and Longhorn. I remember my Dad taking us to card shows. One in particular I remember was in the Astrodome beneath the outfield seats. I still enjoy going to shows just to see cards that are out there, but mostly I enjoy taking the younger people in the family to them. I crack a lot of smiles watching the kids lose their minds with cards. I stopped collecting cards in the early 2000s when we started having kids. But I had amassed a huge collection prior. During the pandemic I sold off my Rockets and Longhorn collections. But I still have my Astros and Texans-Oilers cards. I am having trouble (emotionally) letting those go. But I told my wife I am having trouble finding a buyer. She seems to believe me...or is pretending to believe thus far.
  22. Schloss said Anthony Pack Jr., who is fine now, previously aggravated his wrist throwing a medicine ball in the weight room.
