  1. Past hour
  2. We had two drives with red zone snaps. One drive saw one RB run on 6 red zone plays (gain of 2 yards with 3 yards to gain). The other drive saw one RB run on 5 red zone plays (gain of 3 yards with 6 yards to gain). Those are successful runs. Also, every time we ran a RB on 3rd and short (non goal line), we gained a first down. There’s been a lot of talk about Ohio State keeping things in front of them, but there is no way Ohio State wasn’t trying to stop the run on 3rd and short or was content to allow successful runs inside of the redzone. If that was part of the gameplan, that’s problematic. We had a lot of failed conversions on 3rd and short due to inaccurate passes, and a lot of drives stall from getting into 3rd and long because of inaccurate passes (thus not having the opportunity to run on 3rd and short). The lack of attempts for our RBs in the RZ and opting to pass on 3rd and short rather than run it until they prove they can stop it on 3rd and short is what I would call abandonment. But other than one failed, poorly conceived, half assed 4th down conversion attempt on the first drive, we pretty much ran the ball at will with our RBs.
  3. One thing we're not hearing is that JJ's three drops were just as bad or worse than Arch's seven bad throws. That's two bad games in a row against Texas. Doesn't seem like the best player in CFB stuff. Certainly not the same level of scrutiny.
  4. I’m more concerned with Arch’s footwork and literally completing easy passes than I am the final score.
  5. I’m not sure I have the heart for this after last week lol.
  6. I think he was pretty basic at Ohio State, and that will continue next three games. When SEC starts, totally different
  7. Dont have concrete info on that yet I do know that the family understands there will be a needed development curve for Kavian. He’s close to a sandlot HS QB right now at the level he’s playing at. Too easy for him to just run around and make plays. Hes not having to actually play true QB right now in the context of what he will have to at next level
  8. Haven’t heard on that. I’ll check
  9. SeatGeek is another possibility and is the ticket partner for UT. For the Bearkats game there should not be too much gouging compared to other games and you might even get a good deal.
  10. Today
  11. I think they intended to go fast a few times to try and wear their DL down but after half they realized it wasn’t smart and we needed to let Arch get time too at the LOS
  12. Yeah I completely agree that Sark to Bama feels very unlikely, especially after all the sustained success he’s had at Texas. Doesn’t seem like he’d be bored yet since he hasn’t won anything meaningful. And Texas should be able to counter any major financial push that Bama makes. But I have a suspicion they will make another run at him regardless. They will want to get this next hire right if DeBoer doesn’t work out.
  13. This is true, but it doesn't make them true title contenders. In fact, closer to a paper tiger. If strength of schedule really is an important component of playoff selection and seeding, it's hard to see how the alter boys land a top eight seed even if they win out.
  14. A friend said this awhile back. The SEC is just a different group of hillbillies we have to beat to win a title. Facts.
  15. Gerry, how did Max Wright fare against the Don Bosco stud D -lineman last Friday?
  16. If they can beat a&m, they face ZERO currently ranked teams the rest of the season.
  17. @Gerry Hamilton do you think Bryant’s circle / agents want him to follow in the class after Dia Bell? Or does a path to playing time not matter as much here?
  18. Great points. 1. First time for all four D-line as starters, so hopefully we improve our run D before that game. As for abandoning the run, I did not see Texas do that until they were down 14. I think we were happy to play everything in front and not give up a big play. Penn State will be a problem, I also see a lot of growth for us on the offensive side of the ball leading into that game. Yes, in my opinion Texas run D is that good!!!
  19. Per a family member, the 4-star++ QB out of Palestine Westwood is scheduled to visit Texas September 20 for the night game vs Sam Houston State And the RRS is also likely. And of course, A&M game (schedule dependent) Junior game one HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2SZ9ud
  20. Bama fans do like Sark, but it's not financially doable. Can't see him wanting to go either. They could get Gruden, but it would be risky and really expensive.
  21. Didn’t they try to get sark before they settled for deboer? I remember sark signed an extension the day everybody was worried
  22. Yeah there’s no way sark goes to bama now. Not with the way Texas has been rebuilt and seeing how difficult it is for anyone to step in Sabans shadow. I think bama will have a tough time convincing any of the top 5-10 established coaches to go there. Urban Meyer maybe? I could see an nfl hire though.
  23. How do you think he will play Penn State? Because I don't think a similar gameplan will work against them. Imo, Ohio State allowing 166 rushing yards to Texas "playing honest" with a light box doesn't bode well for them vs Penn State. I think we could have gone for 200+ - we abandoned the run at times and had drives stall and get off schedule to Arch's accuracy issues. You can say Ohio State was just allowing Texas to run on light boxes, playing bend don't break but Texas was doing the same thing if not more so (giving ample respect to Ohio State's air attack) and still held Ohio State's ground game in check. The preseason expectation was that Penn State will probably have the best running game in the country, which means better than Texas'. Also have a running QB (that has a lot more experience than Arch). If their WR corps is improved from last season in the way people are predicting, Ohio State may not be able to successfully rely on loading the box and allowing Allar to attempt to beat them through the air (which is what they have done every time facing Allar-led PSU so far). Should be interesting. Y'all are a good team, but I think the apparent lack of run game and run defense compared to last year will making repeating difficult. Or maybe our run game and run D is just that good? I would definitely love for that to be the case, but I'm skeptical of that as well.
  24. Basically what happened to Kalen DeBoer. He was offered big money to keep the Ferrari on the road like Ryan Day. Not sure even a big bag could convince Sark to do another full on rebuild of a blueblood program. I think the only college HC job he might leave for is Southern Cal because that's where he grew up. Otherwise it's Texas or NFL.
  25. Bama fans, administrators, donors all LOVE Sark. I think he’s perfectly happy in Austin and feels like he is better equipped at UT to win big than anywhere else. But I could also see Bama framing it to him as “you could come save Alabama football” and bring in Saban to make the hard sell. They might offer him crazy money and make him say no. I still don’t think he’d leave, but it might be a 50/50 decision if Bama came at him hard.
