  1. Past hour
  2. You guys seen this crazy story? I’m sure more lawsuits like this will come in time
  3. I guess it depends on the reason he is leaving. Passed over for pt and needs a fresh start? In that case can he wait to develop or does he want to be on the field soon? Are we willing to pay him to develop? I would expect this type of portal player to go to a byu or Utah or Arizona but to be fair I know nothing about his time at usc so far. Is he Akana 2.0?
  4. I hear what you’re saying but we also get revenue from other SEC teams in the playoff or bowls and that money would not go to us if we decided to go this route. Again, don’t hate the idea, I’d actually prefer to do more like basketball with an expanded playoff to 16 or 20 and an NIT type tournament for the remaining 20 teams outside of the top 16 or 20.
  5. Well I mean the scholarship level is at 105 now so never know, ofc if he demands too much money then it’s a pass
  6. Versus Michigan on New Years Eve night would probably be better for our program than a home game against cougar high.
  7. Gerry had a mancrush on him last year
  8. 6’4” 205? I know we wanted him last year but this doesn’t look like an ideal experienced portal lb pickup for us.
  9. Kenny D swears Tempe is where he wants to be
  10. Speaking of Louisiana born.. I could see Kiffin giving him a call
  11. LaAllen Clark is from Baton Rouge. Louisiana people love going back home.
  12. If you’re interested in the playoffs, you should be interested in two things as well (in addition to many others): 1) revenue for the football program 2) extra practice for the players The bowl games provide the second, and I think what I’m proposing could provide both #1 and #2 and more of #1 than the bowl game
  13. I will respectfully disagree. To me it's playoffs or disinterest. (BTW, I'm not interested in bowl games either.)
  14. Today
  15. Again, the TV revenue from the Citrus Bowl is like $8 to 10 million split 16 ways. Max $625K. Practically every bowl eligible/non-CFP team from the SEC would be better off doing what I'm talking about. It actually makes sense, too, since no one has spring games anymore. None of the bowl games that people care about historically are available for non-CFP teams anymore. The Poptart, Citrus, Gator, Texas, Sun, etc can go the way of the dodo as far as I'm concerned.
  16. I don’t hate the idea but agree that logistically it doesn’t make a lot of sense and we wouldn’t get tv revenue because no network would air the game. I think we go into the citrus bowl with the narrative that we’re treating this like a scrimmage or NFL preseason game and our primary goal is to get guys playing experience and not to play our starters and risk major injury for a meaningless bowl game. Would love to see what Caldwell and the 3 freshman receivers can do on offense and what our young guns look like on defense.
  17. And? I'd be perfectly fine with Texas opting out of a bowl entirely. Livestream the game on the Texas youtube channel for all I care (or OTF!). Blake could do the play by play with Bobby as the color commentator. Gerry could be the sideline reporter, The All American Guy! I would personally pay $200 to go to the game and partake in Bevo Blvd, etc one last time for the season. Get some autographs. Texas could very well make more money from this than the bowl game. What's the difference between this exhibition practice and the exhibition practice vs Michigan with many of our starters sitting out?
  18. Certainly fits this staff’s physical profile for a starting corner. Don’t know much else about him though.
  19. Adding women’s sports will be no problem at Texas. They currently have 12. Stanford has 19 women’s varsity sports.
  20. That’s what I’m saying. Why would you leave now????? Hope we can keep him. Would be a big loss.
  21. No national TV coverage. Bad idea. You just described a exhibition spring practice
  22. Max Johnson entering the Transfer Portal for a 4th time at nearly 25 years old isn't being talked about enough. Dude has literally played for Ed O, Jimbo Fisher, and Mack Brown.
  23. Not if BYU wins tomorrow. Which I know is low odds, but I'm holding out hope and rooting for it.
  24. I would rather the talking heads to not have that talking point. First off, I don't want to hear it. Secondly, whether you think so or not (you'd have to have your head buried in sand to not), people have biases against Texas and narratives that they're just waiting to be "proven right" (while ignoring any data that conflicts). Current and future committee members are NOT immune to developing biases. Yeah, past season results are not part of what is explicitly written in the selection criteria. I think you would be a fool to think that they don't look for things like bowl outcomes to justify the decisions they make in rankings. And whether they feel like they made a mistake in a prior year COULD theoretically make them think twice the next year. On top of that, I do think post bowl rankings matter. I would love for Texas to have 10 wins and be ranked in the final top 10 at the end of the season. Which could happen if we play #10 ND or even #11 in a bowl game and beat them. It won't happen by beating #19 Michigan. Every positive data point matters to this program and therefore matters to me. Being able to say "we finished in the top 10 the last three years" sounds a lot better to me than saying "we finished in the top 10 in 2023 and 2024 but not 2025". So yes, I think preserving the possibility of finishing in the top 10 matters, whether you think it does or not.
  25. Sounds like the smoke is real. Although strange to take a lateral move when you’re about to be able to sell a top 5 pick at your position (Simmons).
