Fundamentals for Arch will improve the more he feels comfortable in the pocket. That was the case from week 1 to week 2, like @harveycmd mentioned. Arch was definitely rattled on the road against Ohio State, and again, I will die by the assertion that he was expecting a Georgia-like front seven with constant pressure which just never came. Fundamentals for Arch will never be pure, that's what comes with his mobility and arm strength. He can get away with a lot due to the arm talent. But the pocket technique is whe you will continue to see improvement as long as he is feeling comfortable in the pocket. It will take steps forward each week of the season.

But that's just it, or at least in my opinion, the game speed was much slower because of the competition and less complex defense. I'm not worried about his mechanics, he's a Manning, I think speeding up his processing will "fix" his mechanics. -

The entire history of cfb has been about few teams that can truly compete no matter the format pre and post nil era. You fools claiming this needs to be fixed is laughable. Especially considering the huge advantage Texas currently has in this landscape. But I suppose we can make everything level and even so that bag game can come back and we are not at a competitive advantage. -
Arch improved his mechanics dramatically from week one to week two. In his extended action last year, he was fundamentally sound. The worry seems to be that he hasn't just rolled out there and looked great consistently.

Bobby Thank you for the well written description of what is happening. I think Campbell is right. Trying to label what he is doing as socialism or self serving is silly and fallacious. These are economic facts and the way NFL teams have for years financed their stadiums is worse than socialism—it is funneling money from taxpayers into the owner’s pockets with no return to the local citizens other than made up economic impact statements. College Football has to be fixed now or It will be a race to the bottom until there are only a few teams that can truly compete for media money. Taking the short view of things for self interest is going to kill college athletics. -

Lol it's an open discussion, football is my passion, I don't know more than anyone else but we all don't see it the same. The more opinions or people who engage in the conversation, the better. The reason I asked the mods, is because they talk to insiders or have seen a portion of practice. If we can see the issue, I'm sure Sark and staff can see it too. I wanted to know what are they doing to speed up his feet and eyes. -

Wouldn’t this require an act of congress? Is there any momentum in congress to do anything or is this all moot? -

I have zero trust in him. That entire fanbase imo is the most unhinged irrational fanbase in college sports. SEC + Beard sent them into lala land. I think he's a wealthy hack. I'm convinced his only goal is getting Tech into the same conference with us. Their life revolves around us. In the end I don't care. With current leadership we'll be fine under whatever model there is. My chief worry is what happens when Eltife's term runs out. CDC and Hartzell/Davis have been fine. But Eltife is running the show and he's run it damn well. -
Not a mod but my two cents. The staff limited some of Quinns footwork/mobility limitations by having him in pistol or gun a lot and playing to his strengths with rpo's, quick passes and motioning the rb into and out of the backfield to identify coverages. They utilized his short and intermediate passing to get playmakers the ball in a position to run. Short anticipatory throws became Quinns best asset. Arch improved in game 2 but is still having issues with his feet as he's spreading too far at times and rather than gathering and driving the ball he's throwing off balance causing inaccuracy. I personally think it's just adjusting to game speed, timing and getting experience. Some of the bad mechanics like you said were due to late recognition and then rushing to make up for what he saw late. Even his touchdown to Endries in the seam was a little bit late, thankfully it was the parting of the red sea. All in all I think Arch is going to improve at an incredibly fast rate as the season goes on, just needs to keep gaining rapport with his guys and getting more reps. He seems to be a slow starter that once he adjusts to the speed does great. Hopefully he can come out of the gates firing more often the rest of the year.

I hope so but it’s hard to have that kind of faith in university systems and presidents. For every Eltife who might be thinking about the health of his whole system, you get a Paul Bryant type knifing UAB again to ensure Bama gets its share of the increased revenues. -
"Mississippi State’s win over No. 12 Arizona State marked the first time they beat a ranked non-conference opponent since 1991. The team they beat was No. 12 ranked Texas." And I was there in Starkville, Mississippi to see that. It rained just enough to get us all soaked. Another loss to Jackie Sherrill. What a disappointing day.

Could be. I think there’s a deal to be had that is more inclusive. I don’t think the universities of the SEC and Big 10 want to be seen as the ones who kill college football for the rest of the country. You have to remember, even within the UT system there is UTSA, UTEP, SFA and now UTRGV that all play football. -
So a lot was made about Arch's mechanics after game one, most of which I think is overblown. What I saw and continue to see is Arch seeing it late and letting it rip using upper body strength. Whereas with Quinn, who didn't have the arm strength of Arch would drop his eyes and take a sack. So my question is, how or what is Sark doing to confuse Arch so it helps him down the road? The reason I ask is maybe not so much with UGA who confuses blocking schemes more than they try to confuse qbs, Oklahoma will be able to replicate or mimic a lot of what Ohio State did. BV scheme won't include NFL principles or high level route matching, but it is complicated enough and always has a guy you never expected to be where you didn't expect him to be, to confuse Arch. A confused Arch is a rushed Arch and I'm not in a hurry to ever see that Arch again.

Bobby, thanks for the insight and perspective. I saw one of Cody Campbell’s ads this past weekend but didn’t know all the background behind it. -

If that kind of financial windfall is available, the SEC and Big Ten should and probably will pool their rights and keep the control. -

By the way, everyone wants the PUF redistributed to their benefit and to the detriment of Texas. That is not news. That’s been going on since at least the 80s. -

He’s not going to get the pooling done without the acquiescence of the SEC and Big 10. He just won’t get the votes. I’m guessing he knows that quite well. That means negotiation of future rev share must be on the table and I doubt the SEC or Big 10 would be willing to be shortchanged in that regard. In other words, all of what you said can be true, but there still may be a deal to be had that makes sense. No one’s motives should be altruistic here, not his, not Texas’, no one’s. -

Just like Tech legislators want to redistribute PUF money benefitting Tech to the detriment of Texas, he wants to redistribute SEC/Big conference TV money, benefitting Tech at the expense of those conferences. He knows with his personal NIL spending, if he can level the conference money field he’ll finally have the advantage over the SEC and Big schools. The rest is just his rationalization. There is a reason he doesn’t explain his actual position in his ads.
