If you had told me that we would double up their rushing yards, hold Sayin to 126, and hold J Smith to under 50, I would have told you that we probably won by 10+.

Agree on everything except the last point. With how CFP changed the SOS review this year, this game won’t hurt Texas much. 9-3 and I still think they get in. The plan from Sark was really bad. It’s like he just forgets who he is against top 5 teams. 2-12 record is not good, and indicative that he can’t get over the hump. We will see.

Makes me wonder if arch doesn't identify defensive coverages pre snap. Poor decision making and even worse throws.

I mean, OSU was pretty ineffective offensively. It’s not like they were dialed in and creating explosive plays. Texas actually moved the ball more consistently. Ohio State capitalized on 2 drives (1 off a turnover and 1 extended by penalty).

The problem with this is what really elite OC is going to come to Texas knowing Sark isn’t really going to turn over the offense.

It was not a good game plan. I agree. The run was working and we went away from it too often and also didn’t do enough of our shifts and motions we typically do. The misdirection wasn’t there in my eyes.

Tough plan ride home when you out gain and out rush a quality opponent on the road by those types of margins.

agreed. Coaches watch the guys every day in practice but you have to think Kobe Black is a better option on the outside.

The play calling and Arch missing throws are what stands out for me. We needed a warm up game before this one, OSU didn’t.

I agree. I guess at least the were close losses instead of blowouts we’ve watched under previous coaches, and probably should have been 3-4 if not for getting jobbed by the refs against bama ‘22 and Aubruns missed kicks in the SEC champ game. Still sucks though. Especially since we are 0-4 against really good opponents the last 2 years when we were a top 5 team too.

Dumb question: is it time to take a long look at AJ Milwee? He has had two #1 overall qb recruits, plus two mid/high four-stars in Card and Murphy. Arch had a lot of the same mechanics issues today that Quinn had: side-arming throws, throwing off his back foot, bad footwork under pressure. It’s unacceptable that he has not produced an elite qb in 5 years with all this talent. Not saying Arch won’t get there, but it almost felt like he regressed compared with last year. Milwee (and Sark) are dramatically underperforming relative to other position coaches on campus.

The biggest takeaways being at the game were 1) Kick the damn FG and take points. We would’ve won had he kicked the 3x we were in FG range. 2) Receivers were open all over the field, especially Endries and Arch wouldn’t see them. 3) We had almost double their offensive output, no reason we should’ve lost that, killed ourselves with penalties a couple of times (3x we extended their 1st TD drive). 4) Run game is going to be great. We have to take it out of Arch’s hands until he gets more settled in. He looked like he started to find the right guys the last half of the 4th quarter. Way too little too late, but the point is, things were there and he will find them once he gets settled in. 5) And lastly, yes, Ohio state fans are REALLY that big of douche bags. Glad I waited until my 40s to come to this game bc it would’ve been bad had i still been in my 20s/30s when I was still more of a hot head. We walked 2.5 miles from the stadium back to our AirBnB and got accosted by “townies” the entire way. Hard luck to them and we will beat them if we see them again in playoffs. Hook’em.

I'm not sure the backup QB shouldn't have been inserted for a series. Seemed like Arch had a case of the nerves.

I am seeing a ton of overreactions which is understandable to an extent. That said, some of these comments are acting like we got dominated and we didn’t. This game came down to like 3 plays that went Ohio State’s way. It would not surprise me if Texas and Ohio State are simply the two best teams in the country given the defensive performances. I think defense is going to make it very hard for teams to actually beat us. Only concerns were the redzone goal line turnover on downs and the lack of creativity from Sark on offense. Manning will get better and the offense as a whole will get better. I don’t share the concerns about the offensive line. It was solid today.

Texas needs a playcaller.

Thank you! Too many posters on here are trying to pin this on Sark and his play calling... Those posters are completely out of touch and just lazy. This was all Arch. Arch was awful. Plain and simple. He made so many terrible throws on what should have been routine passes. That killed drives all game long. Any poster here that can't point to that as the fundamental problem in this game is blind. If Arch can make more of those simple throws, this game and Sark's play calls are different. What is any OC supposed to do when the QB can't make a simple throw.

What happened to the portal WR we got? Emmett or something like that?

PKs defense has carried us in every big game and Sarks offense has failed to get us over the hump. Very frustrating for year 5 under Sark

You can have a better game plan than running Quinn offense with him instead of waiting until you have to open it up.
