Is this not on Coach Choice and Coach Sark for lacking of elite recruiting at RB? Poor evaluations/development? I mean, don't get me wrong Wisner is good but he isn't elite. We have no speed at RB, no elite game changer there. That is a problem and it should not be. Plus the run blocking is okay but leaves a lot to be desired. For several years we've had a lack of push up front. Too much finesse/thinking and not enough beat your ass and get you to the dirt, so to speak. When was the last time we really saw an OL at Texas maul somebody up front? '23 Bama game, maybe?

OTF Premium Dia Bell Update
Thisrowyellssorry replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
The comments in the thread of his 31-28 comeback victory were kinda prescient. “Kid’s gonna get demolished back there behind this offensive line.” Hope he can come in fully healed, tough outcome for Dia. -
Is CJ a closet criminal sooner? Guy doesn't know what to say when, but he's a twenty something telling us some weird stat. Great job goober. Remind me of Switzer.

OTF Premium Dia Bell Update

Bell's had a rough go in high school with back-to-back season ending injuries. Get well soon, young man. -
Simon certainly looked impressive.

Remember the great debates of the Dark Decade where we questioned whether it was coaching or players? And that you shouldn’t have to sign a five star RB to get better run game production against UTEP? I’m having those feelings again. We shouldn’t need Derick Cooper to run for more chunk yards against UTEPs defense, and yet I find myself saying I’m not surprised because all we have are decent but not elite running backs on campus.

Nope. Not worried.

No.

25-26 Director's Cup Thread

The Texas women's soccer team starts off SEC play with a 3-1 loss to Missouri. I grow more skeptical of this teams post-season chances with each loss. Ange Kelly may be coaching for her job this year. -

Fall Sports Recaps and Previews Women's Volleyball While we all fret about the offensive performances on the grid iron, I figured we could use a pick me up with a deep dive on our historically most successful Fall sport - Women's Volleyball. Last year was an up and down season for Jerritt Elliot's squad as the team uncharacteristically dropped winnable matches and never found their footing against top competition. Lineups, rotations and formations fluctuated throughout the season as the coaching staff searched for consistency but it never truly came. Madisen Skinner performed at a very high level but no other outside hitter really came along to help her carry the load. The 2nd place conference finish was a disappointment for a team that entered the season as one of the most likely Texas teams to secure a SEC conference championship. The struggles continued in the NCAA tournament and the sweet 16 finish was only the 2nd time in the last 20 years the team has not advanced to at least the Elite 8. Entering this season, the big questions were - How would Texas replace Madi Skinner at the outside hitter position and would they find consistency at the setter and libero position? So far, both questions have been adamantly answered in the positive. Texas found its powerhouse Outside Hitter in national semifinalist Pitt Panthers transfer Torrey Stafford. The first team All-American led all of the power 4 in hitting percentage (0.358) last year and opted to spend her Junior year in Austin. She has not slowed down one bit since suiting up for the Longhorns - leading the team with 4.5 kills per set and hitting 0.294 on the year. Making the Texas attack even more dangerous has been super freshman Cari Spears. She is 2nd on the team in kills, 3.8 per set and is hitting at a healthy 0.292 percentage. Feeding the attack has been Ella Swindle, who struggled at times last year but has been very consistent in her setting so far this season. On the defensive side, Emma Halter has been very effective in the Libero role as the team as a whole has made scoring very tough on their opponents. Indiana Transfer Ramsey Gary has also been very effective subbing in at the Libero position this season. Sophmores Ayden Ames and Nya Byunton have led the charge at the middle blocker position. If you have missed it, the Texas Longhorns have built an incredible resume through 6 matches. Wins over #12 Creighton (3-0), #8 Wisconsin (3-0), RV Rice (3-1), #6 Stanford (3-2), #4 Louisville (3-2) and tonight's victory over #9 Arizona State (3-0). Things don't exactly slow down as they are set to face two other ranked big 12 foes in #15 TCU and #20 Baylor before entering SEC play. While Texas will be the favorite to win the SEC, #3 Kentucky and #8 A&M will be stiff competition. Florida, #11, and Missouri, #23, represent the only other ranked SEC teams at this juncture. Director's Cup Spin Women's Volleyball is one of the 5 required sports for the Director's Cup and Texas is on track to secure another solid score on the volleyball court. It is early in the season but Elite 8 seems like the floor for this team with the team's 5th NCAA Championship being a strong possibility. Women's volleyball follows the 64 team bracket scoring with points starting at 25 and increasing to 50, 64, 73, 83, 90 and 100 with each win. -

@CJ Vogelwho do you want to see at RB next game? I want to see more Simon. -
Kyle Flood has got to go

No one's job on the offensive staff should be safe if this is the product that they put on the field for the rest of the season besides maybe Chad Scott since he just got here. No reason Texas shouldn't be top 10 in almost every major offensive category from Sark's third year on. The offensive product has been the same every year of Sark's Texas tenure. Better players from the portal would help a little bit, but I think a four and a fourth season sample size tells me it's systemic. -

I want to say James Simon had two runs in the 13-14 range last game. Yes that is an awful stat, I want to say brighter days are ahead at least with Wisner and Simon in rotation. Was really, REALLY impressed with that game 1 out of Simon. -
Also, I get what people are saying about the OL getting guys into the NFL but the product on the field wasn't good last year and it isn't this year either. The lack of push in the run game has been evident for a while, even when Bijan was here. Dude was dodging guys in the backfield to pick up yards. When you can't even get a push up front against UTEP or SJSU, that is a problem. I understand people might see this as "crying" or whatever, but the product on the field doesn't lie. Penalties have been an issue for years, no change there. Mental mistakes on the Ol, no change there. Yes some of this is on the players but at some point you gotta point to the coaches. Criticism is allowed guys, whether you think it's warranted or not. It seems like this offense is completely disjointed.

Doubt that will change this season unless Wisner, Simon, or Clark break a big one in conference play. Sark has to hit the portal hard and find a guy at RB, even with Derrek Cooper coming in. Not sure if the run blocking is something that can be fixed and it is what it is at this point. -
Those 142 rushing attempts have gone for an average of 3.75 yards per rush. In 2025, that rushing average specifically from running backs sits at 4.29 yards per rush.

☀️☀️☀️☀️ ...and VY had Ced Benson in the backfield 😉 ☀️☀️☀️☀️

How about now? I believe Arch can pull it together, but I’m extremely disturbed by most how bad he was against UTEP. It was surreal.

Doing some digging on how putrid the Texas running game has been this season and came across this statistic dating back to 2024. *** The last rush attempt by a Texas running back to reach 20 yards or more was Jerrick Gibson's 21-yard rush against Clemson in the 4th quarter of the 2024 College Football Playoff round one game. Texas has had 142 rush attempts by running backs since their last 20 yard rush. 20 yards is obviously a big play. So what about 15 yards? Well, in their last 142 rush attempts, the Texas Longhorns have ONE rush attempt eclipsing 15 yards on the ground. That was an 18-yard run by CJ Baxter against San Jose State.

I think we got shutout by OU that year, so we'll see ...

You really did. Most people were concerned about the OL going into the season. I think pretty much everyone at OTF expressed that in August. OL play has been inconsistent. They played pretty well against Ohio State. Tre Wisner was out for San Jose State. Tre Wisner and CJ Baxter were out for UTEP. We ran for 200+ yards against UTEP. The OL has actually played a bit better than I expected.

Okay so this equals VY’s 2004 season and we’re still on track for the same record. I kid.
