With LSU winning, so far in the first two top ten matchups the lower ranked team has won, we’ll see how Miami Notre Dame turns out but this season is shaping up to be chaos so far, including bama losing to fsu.

OTF Premium Thoughts on Arch Manning

Uh, no, 16-14…the TD wasn’t on 4th down. -
Too be honest I thought the o line look pretty good and the run game. I think the wr had issues separating. I also think sark was vanilla for whatever reasons. But I will say again I trust sark and we will be good in the sec and it also seem like qb play for every team was bad unless you played a cupcake team

OTF Premium Thoughts on Arch Manning

Don't forget what Colt said this week...the team is going into the game relatively blind because they had no good film on the new OC and DC which Colt said was a huge OSU advantage compared to the abundance of film on our coordinators. Makes sense. -
I had a different opinion before the game. I wasn’t sold on our defense against OhioState. Had hoped we could hold them to 420 yards or so. I also did not see any ability for us to run the ball. I was extremely pleased with the D and our run game. Two heavyweights being played on the road, sure would have wanted to win but damn, we basically made mistakes that kept us from winning. These can be fixed .

I just realized we still don’t know if we have a kicker that can make a field goal when needed.

OTF Premium Thoughts on Arch Manning

Lots of people are assuming Florida is an automatic win, it’s in the swamp and they’ll be ready for payback. Texas will need to make some big improvements to pull out a win, starting with Arch playing like he’s capable of. -
A couple of days ago, Colt did an interview leading up to the game. Perhaps some of you saw it. He said that a huge advantage for OSU was that they had a new OC and DC with no useful tape to study. OSU had plenty on us because of our coordinators being unchanged for years. Arch seemed out of sorts because they were disguising everything really well. He had no idea what the coverage was until the snap so he had to adjust in real time.

Concerns & Things to keep an eye on IMO… NO EXPLOSIVENESS * Lack of offensive playmakers. I’m not buying Baxter/Wingo hype until I actually see it. Wingo has to get the ball on the move to be effective. He doesn’t have in air ball skills to consistently win contested balls. Baxter’s best quality as a RB is picking up blitzes. Wisener’s lack of burst leaves a lot of yards on the field. *No downfield threat at WR or out of the backfield MENTAL ERRORS *Still committing mental error penalties (pre snap and personal foul) that kill drives! GILBEAU * Gilbeau is going to be a liability DE/EDGE ROOM *Slight concern that DE room isn’t what we think it is. Lack of impact/pressure plays from the position only reinforced my thoughts. SARK *Sark play calling in shorty yardage and goal to go situation e.g. 3rd and 3 and he calls two pass plays. *Sark in big games against equal talent or an elite coach -Sark 0 v. Kirby 2 -Sark 0 v. Day 2 -Sark 0 v. DeBoer 2

Given how Klubnik specifically has looked this game (and game 1 last year FWIW) I think maybe we can cut Arch some slack and expect him to use the next 3 weeks to get back on track and take care of Florida to start conference play. -
How can two different players put their hands into an opposing player’s face mask? Don’t they know it will cost 15 yards? The first changed a sure OSU punt into a touchdown drive. The second wiped out a safety. Eight points from mental errors on the defense that otherwise played well. We’ve simply become accustomed to false starts by the offensive line, but they keep happening. Maybe start thinking a little out there. Sorry for ragging these guys out. I think we have a promising season ahead. Our expectations were oversized in part due to our listening to hometown media pundits.

I think he wants to do both because his ego won’t let him give it up and one of his greatest mentors, Pete Carroll, did that when he was at USC. Carroll was both the head coach and defensive coordinator/playcaller during his tenure there and won a couple of natties. Sark is trying to prove he can do that too.
