  1. Past hour
  2. We have reached the point where Arch is deserving every week.
  3. Not so much, I think Stein is a good coach and him going to UK as a UL grad is treacherous, I’m fully aware that Coach Royal went to OU. I don’t want UK to be good at football because it’s just another team we have to worry about (even though we struggled against them this year) that makes our schedule that much more difficult. More importantly it’s a light hearted comment about a school that generally doesn’t concern Texas or concern themselves with football
  4. Alabama is not getting left out due to a loss in an extra game. BYU on the other hand...
  5. I’m not scared to play anyone in the country, but in today college football it makes no sense to schedule an Ohio State. The goal is to be in the top 12 at the end of the year. With SEC going to a 9 game schedule plus if you’re good enough to get in the conference championship you will likely end up playing Georgia twice in one year. With this portal and NIL, every game in the SEC is tough……especially on the road. We were within a couple eyelashes of losing two more games to the bottom half of the conference. Another thing is we’re one of the only teams in the country that has 3 rivalry games where the 3 teams hate us more than anything in the world. It’s really hard to win those 3 rivalry games every year. We’re the one rivalry for OU, A&M, and Arkansas. They’re 3 for us. I don’t care what kind of team you have. It’s going to be hard to sweep those 3 every year. If the playoffs expand to 16 teams, then maybe there will be several 3 loss teams in there. So more leeway. The landscape now isn’t set up to open up with a top team in the country out of conference. I wish it was but it’s not.
  6. Found one the Jimmy Sexton burner accounts
  7. deboer is a hell of a coach. he's in a tough spot with next to zero margin for error, following the goat, but he's really good. i'm not sure why he'd leave bama for happy valley, unless he is simply not happy coaching under saban's shadow.
  8. Bama can match anything Penn State could offer. Plus they are a potential playoff team now in the SEC championship game with a known quantity at QB for next year or two. Would be shocked if he left. skc
  9. Anybody that coaches at Alabama will be compared to Saban or the Bear. In today`s SEC, not a great choice for top coach, imo.
  10. Where are you seeing this?
  11. This is crazy. Just read that LSU is going to pay Kiffin the bonuses he would of received from Ole Miss based on how far they make it in the CFP. LSU simped hard for Kiffin.
  12. Sark isn’t leaving Texas for Alabama they tried that once and this is a better job
  13. If Sark does not want to be here for what he is making now he can hit the road.. Bye.... You are either committed or not...
  14. Penn State is after DeBoer. If they get him, Alabama will have Sark at the top of their list. CDC better re-up Sark's contract again.
  15. Hard agree. CFB as we knew it is dead. All that matters is making the playoffs. By any means
  16. I've been on this one for a while. 16 is a terrible idea. I want to see quality football in the playoffs. Not watch Oregon hang 70 on Virginia. I do no care about North Carolina St's fan base having hope as Gerry would put it.
  17. College basketball does the same thing - roughly the top 40-45 teams get in on merit, then there are 20 or so "conference champs" (I forget the exact number) from lower ranked leagues that get a guaranteed spot. With 68 teams making the field you'd think the bitching about who got left out would be minimal but every year fans of the # 7 (of whatever) team in a power conference, or a good mid-major who lost their conference tournament whine endlessly about how unfair it is that they were left out. For those questioning the wisdom (and competitive unfairness) of the guaranteed G5 bid - I think the big conferences felt they had to do that to avoid anti-trust lawsuits since the 'little guys' would have almost surely been locked out otherwise. Big deal, so now there are essentially 11 teams from the P4+ND getting in (unless a real outlier like Duke gets passed over for a second G5 team). Going to 16 teams would make it better, going to 24 would seemingly leave room enough for almost every even semi-worthy pretender, but I'd bet there would still be teams in the high 20's yapping if left out ...
  18. This Texas team is probably 11-1 with last year’s schedule. Ran into Florida on the road at the wrong time with secondary and OL issues. Unfortunately it won’t matter, but at least we’ll have a jump on the portal and recruiting like the other teams did last year while we were making our playoff run. Lasting vibes for this team into the offseason are positives and “what coulda been” especially if we go dominate a decent team in the bowl game.
  19. Today
  20. Adding more teams only makes it worse, more teams that aren't deserving will be in. Reduce the number to 8 and have a quality playoff. Get rid of the stupid committee and let the computers pick and make SOS a strong criteria.
  21. These guys were fantastic, but Arch deserves an honorable mention at least. He was cookin in the second half. Can't we do 3 HMs in honor of taking down "#3" TAMU? lol
  22. That lose was WAY more than a hiccup when you need overtime to beat a 5-7 Kentucky team and a comeback win against a 5-7 mississippi state squad. Y’all need to come to the harsh reality that we ARE NOT a playoff team this year and you’ll be able to cope a lot better when we don’t make it.
  23. For the sake of giving a few teams a smidge of credit, I'll call potential playoff teams those in the Top 15 of the final regular season AP Poll to include teams on the "bubble". Record Against Potential Playoff Teams Ohio State: 1-0 (Beat Texas) with B1G CG against Indiana remaining Indiana: 1-0 (Beat Oregon) with B1G CG against Ohio State remaining Georgia: 2-1 (Beat Ole Miss, Texas | Lost to Alabama) with SEC CG against Alabama remaining Oregon: 0-1 (Lost to Indiana) Texas Tech: 2-0 (Beat Utah, BYU) with Big 12 CG against BYU remaining Ole Miss: 1-1 (Beat Oklahoma | Lost to Georgia) Texas A&M: 1-1 (Beat Notre Dame | Lost to Texas) Oklahoma: 1-2 (Beat Alabama | Lost to Ole Miss, Texas) Notre Dame: 0-2 (Lost to Texas A&M, Miami) Alabama: 2-1 (Beat Georgia, Vanderbilt | Lost to Oklahoma) with SEC CG against Georgia remaining BYU: 1-1 (Beat Utah | Lost to Texas Tech) with Big 12 CG remaining against Texas Tech Miami: 1-0 (Beat Notre Dame) Vanderbilt: 0-2 (Lost to Alabama, Texas) Texas: 3-2 (Beat Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M | Lost to Ohio State, Georgia) Utah: 0-2 (Lost to Texas Tech, BYU) -------- Interesting Notes prior to Conference Championship Games 7 potential playoff teams have a winning record against this group of competition: Ohio State, Indiana, Georgia, Texas Tech, Alabama, Miami, Texas 4 potential playoff teams don't have a win against this group of competition: Oregon, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Utah 4 potential playoff teams have 2 wins against this group of competition: Georgia, Texas Tech, Alabama, Texas 1 potential playoff team has 3 wins against this group of competition: Texas After the Conference Championship Games, only 4 teams have the ability to have 3 wins against this group of competition: Georgia, Texas Tech, Alabama, Texas
  24. Thoughts on possibilities of Endries and Goosby returning?
  25. What I don’t understand is why CFB is the only sport that doesn’t put the best teams in the sport in the playoff. If this is the best we can do, I would rather go back to the old bowl system and regional rivalries. At least CFB was more representative of the region that you lived in and fueled debate and camaraderie amongst friends and family that went to those schools or had friends and family at those schools.
  26. double post. Sorry about that
