Tennessee, Missouri, and Florida are all extremely overrated

I love this schedule. I love watching longhorn football. I love it even more when we’re playing games that matter, not where the outcome is 99% determined before kickoff. I’d much rather have entire season of meaningful and challenging games to watch than to coast our way through boring cupcake after cupcake for three months just to boost CFP odds. Thankfully we’re not Notre Dame. We’re a top team with the toughest schedule, This is what being a fan is all about. Bring it on!

Insightful article, thanks Gerry. I follow OSU as my mom got her graduate degrees, my brother wrestled there, and I went to high school in NE OK. I found it particularly interesting the low number of players that transferred out to other power 4 schools. Shows how the talent level had fallen there.

Schloss is also in favor of pushing the start of the season back to March. He also wants to look at changing the postseason format to two additional best 2-out-of-3 series instead of the four-team, double elimination regional so that it mimics the regular season.

With the MLB labor situation looming, Schloss said college baseball decision makers need to focus on making the game as viewer friendly as possible. That includes implementing rule changes that can speed up the game.

On Ruger Riojas, Schloss said it adds a lot to the program to have someone in the transfer portal era who loves Texas has much as Ruger does.

Carson Tinney had some good swings in Knoxville, Schloss said. He’s not worried about Tinney having an off weekend.

Schloss said Temo Becerra has made some swing changes lately. His aucccess though, Schloss said, has a lot to do with not over swinging and going back to being a contact hitter first and foremost.

Schloss and Max Weiner pushed Haiden Leffew on Sunday because they wanted to get a look at him in that role and the series unfolded in such à way that it made sense.

Schloss said they might audition a fourth starter next week. If one doesn’t emerge, the role of the fourth starter will be matchup dependent.

Schloss likes where the Longhorns are at with Burns, Cozart, Crossland and Leffew.

Schloss likes the way Cody Howard and Brody Walls are trending.

Schloss doesn’t know who will start at second base as of right now. Gumbo, Becerra and Early are all under consideration.

If the team wants to get to Omaha, their habits and work needs to reflect that. ”If not,” he said, “then shame on you.”

Schloss said the players are having to push through a lot right now, but… ”You want to be a pro player? Well, here it is, buddy,” he said.
