It is if ND gets a playoff berth and Texas loses a berth despite having a stronger SOS… ND, by being independent now has the easiest path to CFP because of the 12 team scheme (and maybe 16 team scheme)

ND is overrated so often now. This isn't the college football of older days anymore. Get in a conference and earn your spot in the playoffs.

I don't see the issue with ND's scheduling and remaining independent? It's not like they lost to Northern Southern Illinois and made the National Championship or anything.

Just wanted to clarify, the TexAgs guy was antagonistic. Not the way you approach a long-term coach that you would think they would be trying to court favor.

This thread made me think back to the 2005 National Championship season. There were several freshmen with no production in DI football, that figured heavily into that season - Jamaal Charles (878 yds rushing, 13 TDs), Henry Melton (432 yds rushing, 10 TDs), Ramonce Taylor (513 yds rushing, 265 yds receiving, 15 TDs), Quan Cosby (yeah, I know, he was 22 yo as a freshman, but still 270 yds receiving, 2 TDs) and those are just on offense. We don't win that NC without those first-year players.

You want to fix the committee, not the independent status. The right committee handles anyone’s weak schedule.

I'm alright with it. Tough competition in the regular season prepares you for the postseason. Few to zero teams win national titles without being challenged during the regular season. If ND isn't adequately challenged, they will eventually flame out in the post season.

Fair? No, but when is life fair? I think they should be in a conference, but them not having the ability to get a 1st round bye makes it a bit better.

I am way more excited for the guy who’s actually had production at that position on this level, Endries. Townsend’s going to need time to develop. If he would’ve got here for spring ball i would’ve maybe thought differently.
