We have had this approach in the past.. it was JUCO ball. in the near future a number of FBS schools will have 80% of their team made up of underclassman. The upper class man will move on to competitive programs. This will further divide college football between the haves and have nots. I don’t like this at all. Parity will never take place and the overall quality of the product will fall off. Sure there will be super teams, but not necessarily super conferences. Looking at the SEC and Big10, half their members would be classified as development schools. Eventually something has to give as BMD’s cannot afford to give donations just to NIL. Athletic directors are always going to need new facilities and improvements. College athletics is going to face some difficult days ahead.

With no long term contracts, money that isn't on the field is a complete waste. And it's hard to get true freshman on the field.

BTW this guy may be a good tackle and all but Coleman, another high profile recruit, never did any of this 💩... People always assume receivers are divas but that guy played in a terrible Auburn offense and never complained. Entered the portal and was professional the whole way. Just saying, I would not be surprised if Seaton takes a visit and we end up not moving forward with him, regardless of talent.

Why is Taaffe going to a different one?

The best basketball example I can give is Jason Klotz. He redshirted and by his fifth year, he was arguably the best player on the team. There is only so much money, you can give a player that wants to develop. Going into his sophomore year, it’s do I take more money to go to a bad team and play right away, or do I take a second year to see where I am at? This is where the player has to trust that will not be could recruited over. That’s a big risk to take. If the player is recruited over then he just a year, and his NIL will be lower versus leaving after the first year.
